I previously had my Hyundai Santa Fe in at another repair place. They told me I would probably need rear brakes and that the sway bar linkage should probably be replaced for a price. They also replaced my front brakes, shocks and struts. They also did mention that my tires were going. When I took it to Amato, they laser scanned my tires showing that the front tires were really bad (had been hydroplaning in the rain) and the rear tires were almost as bad. They drove the car and did find that the sway bar linkage was bad and said that it was covered under warranty and that if I had needed shocks or struts, they probably would have been covered too.
They did the work shown above and quoted a price for some new tires. I checked with another place for tires and decided to go there instead since the price was much cheaper. They had my SUV done by lunch and I was able to take it over to the other place to have the tires replaced.
I had a 10% coupon which was great.
I've taken all my Santa Fes there for service at different times and have always found them to be honest, extremely friendly, and courteous.
I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

They are fairly good. I have no complaints. The wait time isn't long and they are clean and if you want to go home or get picked up they do that. I would use them again.

My car was jerking when the car reached about 40 RPM's. Since it has 100,00 mile drive train warranty we took it in expecting it to be the transmission and it to be covered. My husband received a call at work telling him that they didn't receive any errors from the transmission. They checked the transmission fluid and it looked dark and recommended it be changed. The charge was $144.95 which we were hesitant but we would be able to live with it instead of taking the car somewhere cheaper to have it done. When they finished with the car they called and told us the final bill was $244.51. My jaw dropped. Apparently they charged us for the diagnostic test even though we had the work done by them. I call to talk to the service manager but ended up talking to the assistant service manager Shelly. I was told that I should feel lucky because the mechanic gave me a $10.00 discount on the diagnostic and $30.00 off of the transmission fluid changed. When I told her that every place that I have taken my cars to and had the service done at their garage have never charged to have the diagnostics done. We were never told that we would be charged for diagnostics to be done. If I would have known they were going to charge the diagnostic on top of the fluid change I would never have agreed to having the work done by them. I was expecting a $144.95 bill and now I am stuck paying $244.51. We planned on getting a new Hyundai this year but after this experience I will never buy another Hyundai.
My do's...stay as far away from their service department.
My don't.......DON'T go there.

I ultimately was told I needed a new engine. Amato refused to service the vehicle because I took it to someone else. I ended up paying out of my pocket to get the vehicle running. It was horrible because I still had to make payments on a vehicle that was inoperable. I will never do business with Amato ever again, nor will I refer my family or friends to them.

Bought a used vehicle. Had a rear end problem. Promissed to fix it if I covered 50% of cost. Agreed. They did it. Shortly after failed again. Refused to do repairs - stated: no problem found. Went to independent shop. Fixed the problem, returned me broken parts. Complained to BBB, because the Independent shop cost me 1200$. After detailed explanation of situation, Amato sent a check covering the 1200$. Case closed.

Bottom line - responsive and friendly, but if you buy a used car - NEVER opt for dealer to repair a heavy duty problem (transmisson, rear end, major engine stuff). They'll do it as cheap as possible... Get the price down as low as you can, and repair it elsewhere.

They tried their best to support me on the buying stage, gave me some warranty etc. etc. Brought the vehicle in a couple of times for some small stuff, gave me a car to ride in the meantime. So - it was very good, except for their failure to do quality job on the rear end. Which is more up to service guy, rather than the company.

Other than my bad experience - not a bad place place to buy car or do basic service.
For service customers they have shuttle service etc.

Because of financial difficulties, I hadn't been keeping up with the required maintenance on my car. I was due for my 60K maintenance and needed new tires. My car was riding a little rough, and I was about to start school and a new job. My job requires the use of my car and both my new job and school had a very strict attendance policy, so I couldn't afford to have it break down. I explained all this to Mark Ruidl, my service manager. He was very helpful and understanding. There were a few things that I didn't have done that can wait till later (I only got 2 instead of 4 tires and will go back and have Hyundai spark plugs installed later since I had another brand installed years ago at another service facility) This allowed me to stay within my budjet and get all the needed maintenance done so I can drive worry free for a long time and probably my car will last another 60K miles. I got a whole bunch of stuff done, replaced timing belt, alignment, transmission and radiator other fluids flushed and filled, 2 tires and they checked everything and I can't remember what all else. They gave me a ride home and picked me up when my car was finished at the end of the day. He gave me a discount on the price and also gave me credit for a coupon that I found online while I was waiting for my car to be fixed. A few days later, my throttle was acting up and the engine started racing and the check engine light came on. I took it back to John Amato Hyundai, and as soon as I drove in the service bay, Mark ran over to my car with a floor protector and a concerned look on his face. He knew how important my car and my busy schedule was to me and he promptly got me a loner to drive for free (a brand new 2010 Sonata) so I didn't have to miss any work or school. He said if it was something they did wrong it would of course be free. It turned out to be the throttle sensor. He told me to keep the loner for the weekend so they could drive it a few times to make sure there were no other problems. Gave me a discount on replacing the sensor which wasn't their fault and I was very satisfied. About a month later, my check engine light came on again, and I went back to have it checked out. I didn't get the same service advisor when I came in this time, but they took care of me right away, and fixed my car while I waited. When my car was finished about an hour later, Mark brought me my paperwork, he remembered me and gave me a discount even though I hadn't asked for one because he knew my situation. It was a different sensor this time (O2 sensor). Diagnostics cost $105, parts $115 and the discount was $23.33. Maybe I could have gotten it a little cheaper somewhere else, but not much cheaper, and the excellent service and official Hyundai parts and fast, no appointment necessary service and free shuttle service are well worth the slight extra cost of taking my car there.

Rick was VERY helpful, and answered every question I had. I bought the car on Sat. from Andre' (who was VERY helpful), and the coating for the car was part of the package deal that purchased. I am VERY happy with Amato. I also have had previous work done on cars here, they are VERY honest and helpful. This place is esp. nice for people who don't know a lot about cars.
