Quick. On time. Fixed problems

I called Milwaukee PC to determine that they perform virus removal and to get an approximate price. I was quoted an approximate price that was very close to what I paid. The tech, Paul, diagnosed the problem and called with a final quote and a description of what would be done. The work was performed within the time promised and the computer is working well.

Internet service is fairly reliable, but we have repeated problems with various e-mail issues, and Milwaukee PC personnel do not seem well-versed in how this works. They try to help, but the solutions they suggest often don't work. When we are away from home and using "web mail," it is very primitive in what we can do and how it looks to our contacts; major annoyances are that often we cannot use it to send attachments, and sessions "time out" before we can finish writing longer e-mails (and the document is lost without warning!). When we started with Milwaukee PC several years ago, it was less expensive than competitors' but now it is more on a par pricewise. The e-mail service likewise should have been upgraded but hasn't been. If it weren't for the inconvenience of changing e-mail addresses, we'd change providers in a heartbeat.

Special deal to sign up for DSL service was too tempting to pass up (about $10/month, plus $70 for modem). Store personnel were very knowledgeable and answered questions clearly. They set up modem as they said they would, and instructed me clearly on what I needed to do to install it. Initially, it didn't work exactly as they said, and it took several phone calls to get things running properly. (Several times they said they'd have someone call me back; no one EVER called back.) BIG downside I didn't discover until it was too late: Tech Support is only available during store hours, not 24/7. Our service started only a few weeks ago, and already there have been several times after hours when we could not connect to the server, with no help available. So far service doesn't seem very reliable, but maybe we have a few more bugs to work out.
