This guy came in and evaluated my chimney and claimed to clean it, then charged me $211.
He said the chimney was shot, needed repair, an insert, and not to use it.
One week later I got a 2nd opinion from Nick's Chimney Service out of New Richmond. He showed me how the chimney didn't even have brush strokes and that it had not been cleaned. He then told me that even though he sells inserts and installs them for a living (and other chimney repairs), he said ours absolutely was in good condition and did not need repair, except possibly replacing some firebricks down the road. He cleaned the chimney, charged $150 and was on his way.
Do not use Sax's Chimney service!

They charged us around 180 $ for chimney sweep and charged us a little extra for the block kind of stuff that they put on top of the chimney. The guy who got the work done was good and we were pleased with him. The quality of their work has been good so far. We would use their services in the future as well.
