MMP Remodeling

We had several problems related to the quality of work and knowledge of the owner and workers. They did not listen when we made suggestions and requests. Cabinets were ordered in the wrong sizes, and they stained my brand new countertops, after I especifically asked them to cover them. They did not offer to replace it blaming the quartz was not sealed properly. Again, lack of knowledge, because quartz are never sealed. After I told them that, they sent the issue to their "legal department" and said they will put a lien on my house and send me to collections. They never took responsability for their mistakes, always accusing someone else. They do not know what they are doing. They should never be in this business.

1. Since this is a very small project to the service provider, they have not paid enough attention in terms of coordinating the project and prioritizing the project. We signed the proposal back in the mid of Nov 2015, and it took more than 5 months to finish the project. We might be unavaialble for 1-2 times, but they at least should be 60%+ responsible for the delays. 2. We showed them the pictures of what exactly we want the final result to be, and they seemed very understanding; once the proposal is signed, they became very inflexible. We wanted to change the way to mount the shelf onto the wall, they refused to do that, unless we agree to pay additional costs. At least to me, the way to install the shelf in our way is easier than the original proposal. 3. Very bad project managment and vendor control resulting in failure in quality control. The shelf they ordered are 75% DIFFERENT from what they showed us on the proposal. During the discussion, they told us that it was all because the 'CHEAP' cost for that shelf. The shelf we paid for is around 400+ USD, while we see the exactly same item only is only 150-250USD. Given the bad quality, they proposed to return the shelf, only if we would agree to cover the return cost; moreover, the only way they could make the shelf look better (closer to what they showed us in the proposal) would be to order a more expensive shelf, which, of course, we need to cover the addtional costs. I feel very upset and sorry to have my first housing job done with them.

We were overall extremely satisfied with the renovation. We found them to be very responsive and prompt in all communication. The pricing was reasonable and the work was of great quality. The project was not completed in the timeline as stated. There were a few times when communication wasn't clear and there were a few misunderstandings. However, I feel that some of the misunderstandings were due to us being inexperienced with renovations. The owners and workers were very patient with us.
