First tree lost all leaves by midsummer. They accused me of killing their tree. After many complaints they finally agreed to replace tree. Owner came out and stated this tree should have never left the nursery as it was originally planted too high at their nursery.(the roots were actually 6" above ground level covered with burlap). It was replaced, the new tree started going south by midsummer and lost all leaves by early august. No leaf bud this year! Tree is DEAD. As they made clear in the paperwork for last tree, Even if the first tree was their mistake, this tree was the only replacement allowed. Sent them am email earlier this year and received no reply. This was an almost $500 mistake thanks to Johnson's Nursery.

Awesome.  Plants that died under guarantee were replaced, needs (as for screening) were recognized, changes made, questions answered.  Even unusual requests to keep plants with sentimental value were cheerfully honored.  The results are not only beautiful, but unique and very much our own.  Carrie creates landscapes with plants rather than hardscaping, using interesting trees, shrubs and many flowers.
Besides providing a delightful and imaginative designer, Johnson's basic services have been excellent.  The prices are good, the stock is high quality, the crews are polite, efficient and prompt.
The nursery also gives free design service for people who install themselves using plants from Johnson's.

It went well. They were very easy to work with and they were on time. I thought that they had a nice plan.

They are easy to get a hold of and they did everything they said they would. There was no trouble.

Great selection.  Great quality.  However, some of the highest prices in the area.  Then again, I was comparing them with local retail nurseries (Steins, Shady Lane, etc.)  Perhaps from a commercial landscaping supply perspective, they are competitive.

They are very responsive.

We have called him regarding certain plants and bushes that he had put in for us.  They were excellent.  We were satisfied with the price.

We had many companies that came to us with their ideas for our landscaping.  Some of the work had to be tweaked because they did not follow the plan.  Some of the plants have failed but they never gave us any problem replacing them.  They had to come on our lawn with their equipment and they had to put some boards on the grass to protect it and it still wrecked the grass.  The foreman wanted them to put more plywood on the grass so that it would be protected and they still did not put it down.  They should not have continued if they knew it would ruin our lawn, I expected more of them.  That upset me about the damaged lawn.  It is a good company and it has a good reputation and they had some good ideas, it was a good fit for what we were looking for. They have always been really good about their service they take care of their customers very well.  I compared the prices to all the other 6 estimates and I thought their price for what we got was very competitive.  The company has a great reputation for both products and services.  We would consider using them in the future if we had more landscaping work to be done.   

Carrie came out and looked at our situation and made recommendations regarding type and placement of trees.  Very knowledgeable and professional.  Workers showed up exactly as scheduled, were also very professional and took every precaution to limit lawn damage while planting 3 new (6" diameter) trees.

Brian Thomas does the landscaping.  They pulled all the weeds and bushes out and he designed the landscape plan for flowers, bushes and trees.  We had major work done.  He is very professional, very thorough.  He knows his different plants, grass, and shrubs.  He is very flexible, reliable and a very nice fellow.

They sent out a college intern without an experienced person supervising. I felt he didn't have much experience. He was a darling man that had ideas but he wasn't remembering everything that I was asking so he would come back a few times and ask me again. I did sign off on what he had come up with for the design. A lot of things that they were supposed to do weren't covered under the guarantee. The fabric underneath the mulch was laid incorrectly with the bottom piece over the top so now the water doesn't flow over it correctly. I was not satisfied with the work and I will not use them again.

This was an excellent experience from start to finish. I was particularly impressed with the background work that Glenn Rieker performed on our tricky property drainage issues, including checking to be sure that any proposed work would be in line with the village of Shorewood codes. Ultimately, he found that some extensive drainage plans we thought would have to be done were not necessary, saving considerable expense. He kept me informed of the progress along the way. When we were finally able to get the work started, I was amazed at how quickly Jesus' crew got this completed. They had a real challenge, because it was not possible to get heavy equipment into our backyard to take out old patio and place the new patio. Thus, there was a tremendous amount of hauling in and out manually. This did account for a fair portion of the projects cost, but other contractors who gave estimates refused to consider this option, offering only to uproot established landscaping to get heavy equipment in. All during the course of this project, from estimates to completion, Glenn kept me up to date via e-mails and links to a website showing photos of the work as it progressed. This was a nice touch. Despite these limitations, they completed the entire project in 6 working days (including some rain delay). Glenn also arranged to get the final inspection performed by Shorewood in a timely fashion. The end product looks fabulous.

Glen showed up to look at my spaces. Within a week he produced a landscape design which met the requirements we had discussed. The plan is included at no charge assuming you buy all the plants from Johnson's. The team delivered all the plants exactly at the time scheduled and placed them where they should go. I chose to do my own planting. Plants were all of good quality, and the instructions at delivery were very good. Actual plants and delivery were more expensive than I could have gotten them at other nurseries, but the price included the design and plant recommendations which were very helpful.

Tyson and the team were punctual, efficient and very good at what they did. They even came back a few days after installation was complete to answer questions about watering and care of plants. Overall a great experience.

They were fantastic. The landscape architect came out and drew up a plan for me. He listened to me and what I wanted. The workers did their job immediately and never stopped working from the time they arrived, which I thought was impressive.

Everything went well. They were very flexible and designed the plan with my needs in mind. They were able to scale back the plans based on my budget and they worked as quickly as they could given the weather constraints. We looked at the plans together, we walked around the nursery and she showed me the plants, and then we made some adjustments. I was happy with their work.

We visited the nursery and spoke with Jackie Ray about their "We plan, you plant" program. We filled out the survey asking about a property and what we would like done with it, drew a diagram of the yard, and took some pictures. Once we submitted this paperwork, Jackie designed a perennial garden and landscaping design for our front yard. Ultimately, we opted to have Johnson's install the shrubs, trees, and boulders and regrade our lawn. We will add the perennials next year. They were entirely pleasant and did a fantastic job. We have a copy of the landscape plan and will add the flowers next year.

Jillian came to my house to see my space and hear what I liked and did not like. We then met at the nursery to see the drawings and look around at the plants and trees she included. Her design used less common plants that will grow in my challenging environment. Johnson's crew came out and installed everything. They were very honest, refunding me money since they did not use all the mulch they anticipated, and they also used a smaller tree than originally planned (but I was informed so this was not a problem). Since the installation, Jillian has been very willing to answer my questions on upkeep and even came out again to see what I was talking about!

They did the plan on paper for you if you bought the plants from them. They were really good at explaining everything to us and they were very helpful. When the plants were delivered, they weren't planted properly. Some of the plants were very small and didn't do well. They didn't give us good direction about the care of the plants. We called Johnson?s Nursery with our concerns and they sent someone out. The girl that came out didn't offer any resolution or compensation for the problem. I feel that their follow up was poor and they didn't back up their product at all.

THE PRIMARY SALES PERSON AND ALL OTHER STAFF WERE VERY HELPFUL AND GAVE GREAT SUGGESTIONS TO HELP WITH OUR PROJECT. IT WAS A GREAT LEARNING EXPERIENCE. THEY ASSURED US THAT THEY WOULD STAND BEHIND THEIR GUARANTEE IF THEIR SHRUBS SHOULD FAIL.

JOHNSON'S NURSERY DELIVERED OUR MULCH, ASKED WHERE TO DUMP IT, MADE SURE HE WAS IN THE RIGHT SPOT ON THE DRIVEWAY AND THAT THE BED OF THE TRUCK WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY BEFORE DEPARTING.
