GDS Construction

At the time of signing the contract I needed to give a 10% down payment that would be cashed if we backed out. Greg asked that we get permits and call diggers hotline. Greg's communication with us was a concern, then he asked us not to put his name on the permit because he is not licensed in Milwaukee, and then I called diggers hotline and they said that the contractor needs to call as it is state law and that our contractor is "either ignorant or lazy" and that we should be concerned. Our project was suppose to be started the first full week of July, no call from Greg. I called him and he stated that he is running behind and that our project should be completed by July 25. I called and left a message with Greg with my concerns that have added up and that I was feeling nervous about the project and that I thought customer recovery needed to occur. I received no phone call back. I came home today with a letter and check taped to the door stating that he was not going to do the work and not to contact him. I was suprised that he did not try to resolve the issue when a customer was not happy and concerned.
