Jim made himself very accessible to us from the first time I called him to make an estimate on a full replacement of our deck. He visited us twice before we decided to hire him, and he was willing to work with us when we adjusted our plan to replace only the railings and stairs (for child safety). The only complaint I had came after we paid the deposit in June; we didn't hear from him for several months until a Saturday morning in September, when he asked if the following Monday would be a good day to get to work. Fortunately it worked out for us, and he had prepared us for the 3-month wait. On that Monday, his team came out prepared to do the whole job in 1 day. They were professional, respectful, and skilled, and they kept us informed of the variances that they found as they did the work. For example, they determined that one post was rotted and needed to be replaced, and they waited for our say-so before completing that task. They finished up by 5:30 pm, cleaned up their work space, and generally left a very favorable impression on us and our neighbors. I am happy to recommend Jim Marx.

Excellent job on the trim work. Was unable to repair existing storm door - installed replacement door but DID NOT check with homeowner on type of door to install. Contractor chose door on his own and installed without confirming with the homeowner. Contractor was unwilling to replace door with a suitable unit - instead wanted full payment for door and wanted to keep the door. Offered free labor to install a new door at our expense. Bad experience overall and cannot recommend going forward.

Jim quoted the work, along with a start date and time. He arrived on time. All work was performed in a neat and efficient manner. He cleaned up well at the end of the project. He was courteous and helpful. Provided the low cost method of of repair, mid and high. He let me know how he would do it if it were his home. I have had no problems with leaking windows, the project turned out beautifully - and they saved all my flowers that needed to be dug up around the window wells.

Jim Marx of Marx Home Improvement did a spectacular job on our deck project. He was courteous and responsive throughout the entire project, and his bid was clear and concise.
