Tim and Chris were very easy to work with, they provided me with a quote for the project promptly and were very responsive to structuring the quote exactly how I requested so I could easily decide how much work I would want to have done in case I needed to prioritize. They worked with my schedule and were willing to do the project in 2 phases so I could stay in my home. Even though the quote they submitted was the least expensive, it was not a matter of ‘you get what you pay for…’ The quality of the workmanship was excellent and I was amazed at how completely they kept the dust contained!! All of the floors and the stair treads turned out beautifully and I would wholeheartedly recommend their services. I would definitely use them again!

The floors were in really bad shape but they look brand new now. They got right up to the edges and into the corners without taking off the baseboards which I was very happy about. The owner was very prompt and easy to get hold of. The guys that worked on the floors were respectful and personable. There was almost NO dust left behind. Just a tiny bit on windowsills if you look close.

Looks like new.  Sanded out some gouges.  They did a better job than the previous provider and I would definitely use them again.

We interviewed at least four of the top flooring contractors in the Madison area.  Each was given a chance to view the property and provide an estimate to our realtor (who facilitated the inspections during the closing process).
Tim's quote came in the lowest.  Additionally, when I called each contractor a week later, Tim was the only one who really seemed to remember specific details about the property - so he was clearly paying attention during the inspection.
We also had a tight timeline, since we were moving from California to Wisconsin in June - so the floors absolutely needed to be done and finished a week before we arrived (to give the finish time to cure).  Tim understood this and did everything he could to make sure the floors were done on time - even a few days early.
Tim also worked with us on the final bill.  Since both my parents and in-laws live nearby, they did a large amount of prep-work (removing old carpet, tack strips and subflooring).  Tim accounted for this and only charged us for his actual labor.  This saved us hundreds.
Because we were unable to see the work in person, Tim emailed us photos as he went, which was very reassuring.
Tim and his crew did great work - I would recommend them in a heartbeat!

I can't say enough good things about M-T Enterprizes. This lovely old house had never had it's floors done. The rugs had been glued to the floor, we'd had walls done so there was plaster dust, there was decades of old paint, holes cut in the floor for who knows what -generally use and abuse over 100 years. You wouldn't believe how beautiful they are now. The repairs are flawless. You'd never guess a repair was even needed. We were unable to salvage the kitchen floor so they did install a new one. The kitchen has a big built-in with cut outs at the bottom. The new floor was matched so perfectly, it looks like they simply picked up the built-in and set it down on new wood. Then, there's the issue of the tiniest broom closet on the planet which also got repaired. How they physically got in there is a mystery, but it looks like it has always been there. We were only going to refinish the stairs, but after removing the glued on carpet and doing a preliminary sanding, we discovered some of the treads were severely cracked. Tim discussed all of our options before proceeding. We decided on refacing both treads and risers with oak. They feel structurally sound and Tim's installation is art. Tim was prompt coming to look at the project when I called, fast at getting a quote to me, scheduling was good, they showed up when they said they would and finished on time. And when they say they control the dust, they really do! We had installed lighting and fans before they came which I forgot to cover and there wasn't a speck of dust on anything when they were through. Thanks, Tim and crew, for helping bring this fine old home back to past glory. It's beautiful!

Everything went very well. The workmanship is superior and the installers were very professional, capable, and polite. We are very pleased with the results. They matched the stain on our existing hardwood floors so closely you would not know they were twenty years apart in age. We would definitely hire M-T again for hardwood floor installation.

I contact MT Enterprize based on Angie's list reviews. Chris came to give me a quote and was personable and asked a lot of questions other contractors did not inquiry about. They were willing to work with me in doing the install in phases as I have four kids. Tim (the owner) meet with me several times before the installation date to confirm colors, finishes and borders that I wanted included. They arrived on time everyday and finished the project EARLY! Everyone is extremely friendly and I felt confident leaving the house while they were working. I will actually miss seeing them every morning, they are amazing people and their work speaks for itself. I would HIGHLY recommend them for any refinishing or installation job.

Excellent work. They applied 2 coats of matte-finish BONA brand urethane with only a light stain/sealer beneath. They lightly sanded between coats to remove any raised grain.  My floors were in bad enough condition that a few boards had to be replaced as well. The floors went from worn/rough feeling, dark orange-redish color to perfectly smooth, brilliant alternating natural tones of red and white oak.(I'm guessing in the fifties the builder used both red AND white oak to save cost, then just stained it darker to even things out). It seems every guest that I have over comments on how beautiful the floors are. It makes the whole house (which is only 1000ft2) feel warm and wonderful to be in. |A couple recommendations to those interested in getting their floors done: It really is an invasive process no matter what. All furniture has to be moved out of the space and then it takes a 3-5 days to sand, apply finishes and let them cure before heavy, regular use can take place.  (all told about 2 weeks of interruption into your normal life) In conjunction with refinishing my floors, I was also replacing finishes: baseboard, interior doors and casing. This allowed M-T Enterprises to get right to the edge of the wall. This meant that when I put the new trim up, it was flush with the floor. Sanding does take quite a bit of material off and you could end up with a small ridge to deal with if you do not remove finishes and then replace them later. So if having the floors done AND your baseboard is pretty worn and nasty looking, it's a good idea to factor in any interior work you might want to do as well (if not removing baseboard M-T gets right up to the edge and you'd never know otherwise. To compromise on cost you could just remove and replace the shoe). I took out a small loan that included funding for the floors, baseboard/moulding and interior doors. I finished and installed all the interior work myself. Note: For all the wives/live-in girlfriends out there: be supportive and patient with your man if he's doing the finish carpentry. It really is a slow and tedious process, but if done right it really makes the home feel that much more beautiful.

Tim arrived at scheduled time, went to work and actually finished a day early, he applied a coat in the morning and came back later that day and put the final coat on. This helped us as we were on a time line. The work was neat and complete. Tim is true pro.

Job went very well! There were some uneven subfloor issues and difficult cuts to be made around an open staircase that they took their time on and everything looks great! Everyone was very polite and professional. Tim was kind enough to give me advise on work I was doing myself. We are having them come back to do repairs and refinishing on bedroom hardwood and refinishing on 2 other bedrooms and a hallway. We are very pleased.

M-T Enterprizes refinished our hardwood floors. They did a great job with installation and cleanup. Unlike another local Angie's list contractor from Waunakee who would not do the job without removing our white trim, M-T did a great job with minimal scuffs on our trim. They saved us close to $700 over the other contractor. Would highly recommend and would use again.

We purchased out house with the intent of having the original wood floors restored.  They had been carpeted over on the ground floor.  The second floor was worn, with mismatched patched in places where the floor had previously been remodeled.  When the carpeting on the ground floor was taken off, we were told that the repair would not be a reliable option, due to the condition of the floor and were given a second quote that included replacement of the floor, with the option to choose either.  We decided the replacement was a cost effective option for the amount of extra value it would add to the home.
They completed the work quickly, working overtime to meet the increased workload from the replacement.  The new floor looks impeccable.  The repaired floor looks nearly new, with the patches blending seamlessly into the old floor.

Our entire main floor (595 sf) is hardwood.   I contacted MT and one other contractor from Angie's List to give us an estimate on completely refinishing our hardwood floors.   While I was impressed with both contractors, and felt that both would do an excellent job for us, the quote from MY was slightly lower, so we went with them.
Tim (the owner), and his crew of 2 took a period of 5 days to completely strip, sand and smooth, seal and protect our floors.  They were all hardworking and seemed to pay attention to detail.  One of the guys was new and was learning, but he impressed me as well.
Communication was great.  We always knew when exactly we would be able to walk on the floor each day (in socks), since that floor houses our only bathroom.  They always told us what step came next, and even what to expect visually, so we wouldn't freak out if it looked weird after they left for the day.  It took longer in days than the project actually took, because it overlapped a weekend.
Our floors now look brand new, and folks come over and just stare at it, going, "Wow.  Wow."  We agree!  The "new" floors don't have the orange cast the old ones did, and they're lighter in color.  Our whole house looks like it got brighter!

Great! Tim's communication was always prompt and he was very professional. He was early to meet us at the house and only took a few minutes to estimate the rooms. We received the estimate that night and he was in regular contact as we moved towards the work dates. They even finished the job earlier than planned and the floors look great. There was no dust in my house and however they cleaned up, it was magical. When I had a question about care later, he was able to point me in the right direction in terms of products to use on my floor to keep it looking great, too.

The only drawbacks to our experience were that we had to wait a week for a response to our initial request for an estimate (through Angie's List messaging), we didn't realize a small trailer would be left overnight in our driveway (not a problem, just a surprise), and our baseboards got a bit scuffed up in the refinishing process (we'll need to repaint them). Overall, we were very, very pleased with our experience and the work they did for us. The rooms really do look lovely and were worth every penny. We plan to upgrade the flooring in our house eventually and M-T will be tops on our list.

Got several estimates; chose M-T because of Angies List and M-T's fair price. Wall-to-wall carpet removed in all areas, along with plywood subflooring in area without wood flooring. Restored old oak flooring, installed new oak flooring. Did it with minimal disruption to household and in less time than estimated. Great job!!
