I made more calls to this insurance company than I have ever in my life. (I am 61 years old.) Prescription coverage was very resistant to doctor-prescribed new drugs and anything that was more expensive. I had to get doctor letters for my daughter's Synthroid, Apidra insulin, and it was very difficult when we were discussing adding a continuous glucose monitoring unit to her diabetes routine. They refused and said it was not medically necessary. The rep. at Medtronic said she had never heard of a company saying that. Their pump replacement/update is every five years, while most companies have four.
The billing was very slow, as were the statements of benefits. I was always totally confused as to where I stood with the deductible. I made the mistake of returning some diabetic supplies once and was I ever sorry. Don't ever try to get a credit from an insurance company! Some of the blame should go to the hird-party benefits coordinator we had, which was another company, but I could not get answers from either company in many cases.
My mother, who is retired, has Security and did throughout my father's long illness, and she was very happy with it. It was her supplement to Medicare.
So, while I would certainly consider Security when I am on Medicare in a few years, right now I am a little unhappy with it
