I wouldn't recommend him for anything. He took me to court. He came out and gave me an estimate to rebuild part of the chimney in May, put a base around with stone he was to furnish, and to pick up the debris from the side that fell. from the chimney. The estimate was a written estimate of $800. He only did a little of the side and picked up the debris. I called him and asked if he could have the work done by the end of June. He said yes. I asked him to come over and pick up the debris. He did and I called him back to see if he was going to finish. He came over and did some work to the side of the chimney. He came over on June 27 and the 28th and did a little more work to the side of the chimney. Then, the 4th of July rolled around, I called him, he didn't respond. He called me and told me he went on vacation. My son was very upset and we told him to come and pick up his things. I had called him 3 times. He sent me a bill for $900. I sent him a check for $350. He claimed the estimate was only an estimate and he didn't know the full scope of the work. He never gave me the stone and what he used, were used materials for the work he did, and he was supposed to furnish them. He sent the check back and said he was take me to court. We went, my construction company and a bricklayer went with me. He told the judge he worked 22 1/2 hours. The construction company and the bricklayer said by the look of the work, he couldn't have worked more than 9 hours. However, when I talked to the judge I told her he worked 17 hours, she ruled I pay him for 17 hours, and that was the end of that. I give him the lowest ratings and would never use him again. I did lose in court. I lost the filing fees, too, but, I had never been to court. My son told him to never come back. He called us both names. He did the same thing to my girlfriend or call a Realtor in town to find out about him. I chalk it up to a learning experience. He only got $705.
Description of Work: I hired him to put the base around my chimney, and to rebuild it, as one side had already fallen. It was not a working fireplace. He only did a little work on one side, and picked up the fallen debris.
