The company was hired and came to replace the shingles the very next day. They had a good size crew that completed that worked efficiently. They did a good job of clean up as one man was on the ground and picked things up as the others worked. The job was completed in half a day. When they left I found they had replaced a weather vain backward. I never complained about that and it still remains that way. In addition they damaged the rain gutter on the garage with their ladder. Again I did not say anything about the damage. They were too come back to finish the Gutter Helmet. Fortunately I had held back some of the payment until the work would be completed. I waited for about a year and they never came to finish the job. Then the owner started to push me to pay the balance and I said I would when the job was completed. Instead of using Gutter Helmet materials he returned and put on some cheap mesh on the gutter. I would not accept this so he put on Gutter Helmet materials at last. The problem was these materials were bent and damaged. I don't know if he put on used materials or damaged the materials when installing them. By that time I was so disgusted by all this I just accepted the poor job and did not pay the balance owed. Now I have some shoddy looking materials on the garage that should have been nice and new.

They were prompt with providing an estimate and also getting at the job.  The work was done shortly after the acceptance of the estimate.  The crew arirved early in the morning and were well organized as they did the job.  One member of the team stayed on the ground and kept the area clean as others worked on the roofs. I didn't appreciate them driving a large truck on the lawn to make it easier to throw old shingles and materials to be disposed of.  They finished the work by noon and left the property in good order.
However they never did finish putting the gutter guard on part of the garage.  It was over a year before they finally did come back to replace that.  It wasn't even the correct guard as per the estimate, but rather some very cheap looking material.  The entire bill was not paid so I refused to pay until work was finished with the correct materials. They finally did replace the guard but the job was very poorly done.  Either they used old materials or damaged it while they installed it.  Because of this I did not pay the small balance remaining on the bill.  In addition they had damaged a gutter with their ladder.  Also the weather vein that was put back on the house was installed backward.  Every time I see these mistakes and damage it irritates me.  I would not recommend then to work on anyone's home..

Muir roofing brings in people from another state (Illinosis) not local like he claims.  The team unplugged my outdoor refrigerator in the garage to use their microwave which they brought with them.  Then forgot to plug the refrigerator back in; the weather was 90 degrees outside and was unplugged for 8.5 hours.  Everything was dripping when I discovered it.
 This has been a nightmare from the start with this company!  The roof is not even four months old and I noticed a shingle that is already turned up!!!

I loved this company. They did an excellent job. They were a pleasure to have in our house. They had to replace all our doors. They are great craftsmen. We got value for the price we paid.

Muir Roofing and Construction was putting new roofs on several neighbors' homes so we had them give us an estimate, which was a bit cheaper than the other estimate that we had received.  I would have preferred a more detailed written estimate than what I received, but I am that kind of detail person while Jim (the owner) seems to have more of a "handshake" kind of business practice.

Muir Roofing and Construction was able to begin the project the next week -- the roof was completed in one day, and the gutters were completed about a week later in one day.  Like many roofing companies, Muir Roofing and Construction used subcontractors for the work, which were both very good (except that the gutter subcontractor has still not been back as promised to fix the gutter to which our rain barrel is attached).

Jim (the owner) was very good about communicating about when to expect the work to be completed and stopping by to make sure it was going well.  He handled all the paperwork, including getting the permit (although I had to ask him for the permit to display in my window) and submitting the final bill to my insurance company (although without me being aware that he had done so).   I was also a little surprised to be asked for a final payment before my gutters were completely done, but we were satisfied and the final bill was a bit lower than the estimate (which doesn't happen too often these days).

Smooth. This was my first big insurance claim and it took a while to learn the drill but Jim was patient. He did what he said he'd do.
