Guadalupe Enterprises, LLC

We operate a martial arts school and opened a second location at the East side of Madison and someone recommended Arturo Garza, owner of Guadalupe Enterprises, LLC to do the renovations of the building. He was the most affordable contractor of the three contractors we interviewed so we hired him. What he failed to tell us is that he was a one man show and even though he agreed to our timeline and asked for 50% downpayment, he knew from the beginning he was going to be able to complete the work on time. We paid him $21,000 which he took to pay off other debts he owed to other people and was giving us the run around. He would only do bare minimum to lead us to believe that progress was being made when in reality, he was only working on our project on a part time basis. A week before our targeted grand opening date, he admitted to us that there was no way he was going to be able to complete the work. This is after we pushed our opening date twice to give him more time to complete the work we hired him to do. So, in the two months after we signed the contract with him, he only managed to build partition walls with 2 X 4. Because we couldn't move our target opening date anymore, we were forced to high a different company who did a great job working around the clock and completed the job in time. Well, most of it but enough that the space was usable. When we asked Arturo what we owed him for the work he had done in there up to the point we terminated the agreement he said $5,000. So, we told him to take his $5,000 and return the rest of the downpayment in the amount of $16,000 he refused to do so. Why? because he had already spent the money on other things. The pictures attached to this review will show the amount of work he did that he claims is worth $21,000 after he told us personally that the amount of work he put in was only worth $5,000. This was also estimated to be value of the work he's done by the other contractor we hired to complete the project. We were forced to higher a lawyer and pursue him to justice. The case is still pending. If there is anybody out there who needs landscaping or remodeling of any kind done, please run away as fast as you can if you ever hear the name Arturo Garza or Guadalupe Enterprises, LLC. This person is crook and a thief. He's done this to several people before us.
