Greenline Construction, Inc.
About us
Greenline Construction was founded in 2008 by Blake Kelsey, a fourteen-year construction veteran. We offer general construction and contracting services as well as handywork. We strive to "green" every project regardless of budget by conservatively using materials selected for the lowest overall environmental impact and highest durability and by recycling extensively. We are currently in a growth stage with one full time employee and occasional hourly help. As a general contractor, Greenline does use licensed and insured local subcontractors for specialty jobs, but maintains strict quality control by using known subs when possible and regularly being present at the job site. We will provide free estimates for many jobs or work hourly (especially for small jobs) at $40/hour. We do not normally bill a trip charge, but build it into the estimate or final bill. We do offer a labor discount for jobs within 10 miles of our headquarters in Marshall, WI. Greenline Construction and Owner, Blake Kelsey, contribute professionally and personally to the community through participation in and contribution to Lion's Club, Boy Scouts of America, and the Marshall Area Business Association. Our commitment to sustainability and our dedication to providing the highest level of client satisfaction, are the elements that drive our business. Please see our website, greenlineconstruction.com for more information about our company’s roots and philosophy.

Since Blake was doing the job by himself and the weather was not entirely cooperative, it took 4 or 5 days to finish the job, but Blake was upfront with us about that from the very beginning and obviously worked hard the entire time he was at the house. He recycled as many materials as he could and did a great job cleaning up. After walking through my yard over the last few days picking up every stray scrap of "normal trash" that accumulated since last spring such as papers blown into the yard and bits and pieces of broken toys as well as all of the dead sticks that fell from our trees, I found only four small pieces of debris (the largest was 6 inches by 2 inches).
Our experience with Blake and Greenline Construction was so positive that we would not only hire him again in the future, but take all of his recommendations for other types of repairs without hesitation (or more accurately with very little hesitation - we always research providers after all!).
Technical stuff:
Our house is a stereotypical ranch home, with an original 1975 roof (yes, a 39-year-old roof in desperate need of replacement). It took 23 square of asphalt shingles. Blake used BP Mystique shingles, which carry a Lifetime Limited Warrant for residential installation that can be transferred to a new owner.
Two courses of ice/water shield were installed due to Wisconsin's winter weather.
We have three chimneys/stacks for various venting, including one that is non-standard - flashing was replaced on all as necessary.
"After the original bid was accepted, there were very substantial changes to the scope of the work that more than doubled the time and material required to complete the job due to code requirements, hidden structural issues , and customer preference. Work was completed to well above customary standards for this type of structure. The customer continued to ask for additional work to be done at no cost. The blown-out schedule on this job forced me to split my time between this job and other scheduled work. I accepted reduced payment due to missed deadlines, however the work WAS complete at time of payment. I had agreed to do the final bit of additional work, and told the customer that I couldn't do it that day (I had a tight schedule that day and did not have the proper equipment or material with me). When they continued to insist and complain, my goodwill ran out and I suggested they find another contractor."
"Project also included demolition, framing, finish work (doors and trim, specialty doors), flooring, and miscellaneous other improvements. Thanks, Customer, for the nice review!"
