Excellent service (while you wait). Reasonable cost. Friendly people and interesting knives and kitchen products. I had a hard time finding a service that would sharpen my garden tool. These folks came through wonderfully and saved me from buying a new tool.

Quick, on the spot service ( sharpened while I waited) Removed a slight burr I noticed at the tip of one scissors before I left the store. The blades are definitely sharper, but I still notice an area that seems to catch on more sheer fabric now that I've been using them. I'm sure he would remedy if I take them back. Have had cutlery sharpened here and was very satisfied.

Our kitchen knives were long overdue for sharpening. The cost was $4 per knife - but I had a coupon from a local Advantage savings magazine and saved $8. It took 10-15 minutes to have my 12 knives sharpened. No appointment was needed. When we lived in another city, a local grocery store chain offered free knife sharpening around the holidays. However, I am very happy with the quality of the service we received and will go back!

On the recommendation of a friend who is a known knife "n***" I took some of my knives to this guy for sharpening. It turned out to be more of a "blade reduction and removal" program. The result looked like the work an overenthusiastic 12 year old thrilled with the power of that huge grinding wheel! The blades on two paring knives looked like they were left at about 2/3 the width they were when I brought them in. My very favorite 8" chef's knife now has a sword edge, rather than a knife edge, he ground so far into the blade! In one of the photos, you'll see two of the same wooden handled paring knives, one ground down by this guy, one untouched by this guy. If you look at the base of the blade, and how it used to curve out, away from the handle you can get an idea of how much metal he took off! The other photos show the other paring knife. It, too, was reduced by an obscene amount, and he even sloppily ground down part of the handle! Lesson learned: If you're thinking of having knives sharpened by a professional, take them some old knife you don't care much about. If they do well with that, then consider taking a knife you really like! The cost of the "service" was cheap - only $3 per knife - but the cost to me was basically the loss of 4 very fine knives. I am a very serious cook and I nearly weep when I look at what's left of my favorite knives. He also sells knives. Hmmm. D'you think there's a connection there???
Response from wisconsin cutlery & kitchen supply
"[member name removed]- First of all I want to apologize for this response not coming sooner to you. Unfortunately i am not able to go back that far and see exactly who it was that worked on your equipment that day. In the end that doesnt matter though, as they were representing our business and our brand. That work that was done to your knives was something that we are not proud of, and should we be given any opportunity to correct this wrongdoing with you we would really love to. Being in Shorewood we want to have a positive reputation with our community and want you to be a satisfied customer. Our new staff here are trained to expertly sharpen knife and not cause any damage like you previously encountered. Hope this finds you well. - Jason"
