About us
Scott Walker has been in real estate for 20 years as an agent and eventually also as a managing broker at two of the larger firms in Madison, Wisconsin. Walker Real Estate, LLC is the realization of a dream to open a firm that offers top notch service to every client, with complete accountability right where it belongs, the owner himself. Operating out of a home office allows the flexibility and nimbleness that seems to be missing from the big overhead firms. And yet Walker Real Estate is still able to offer every important service available, including some that you won't get almost anywhere else: mls entry, customized yard sign, lockbox access, listing domain name, posting on internet sites which syndicate to many other real estate sites, featured on Walker Real Estate website, staging advice, buyer broker representation, pricing advice, showing feedback, market updates, negotiation strategies, and assistance at every step all the way to closing. Together with Erin Prohaska, my fine agent with 11 years experience, we offer kind, courteous, professional treatment. You will find that we are responsive, hardworking, knowledgeable and trustworthy. On top of all that, we try to be nice and to have a good time, since we believe firmly that while buying or selling a house is at times stressful, it is our responsibility to ease your burden and lighten your mood whenever possible, to make it a positive experience. Always remember, good things come in small brokerages.

We learned quickly that the properties in the neighborhoods we were interested in sold very quickly. Scott sent us frequent emails as soon as new homes were listed so we would not miss out. We look at 35+ homes with Scott. Scott was most helpful at these showings, he told us what to look for, what to avoid, what to ask, possible structural or basement water problems as well as homes that could potentially be high maintenance or troublesome in the near future. We never felt like Scott was trying to "sell" us a home. Scott wanted us to find the right home for us.
We put in offers on a few homes that received multiple offers in which we were not selected. Scott was very honest from the first meeting with the prediction that it was likely to happen in this competitive market. Scott was very helpful and gave us lots of strategic advice as we wrote offers in a competitive market.
Scott was just interested in selling us a home. He helped us through the entire process and even after the closing. The day before the closing, the listing agent sent Scott pictures of all the personal property left in the basement and garage. We had specifically asked that no personal property be left. Scott worked with the sellers agent to have a company come and remove the personal property immediately. We were not able to be at the home with this work was being done, so Scott volunteered to help. We were so grateful that we had Scott to help us through the whole process.
I would recommend Scott to anyone looking to buy a home in the Madison area.
He responded quickly to any concerns or questions I had, and was very thorough in explaining any and all details of the process.
I would recommend him highly.
More than that, though, I found Scott to be one of the nicest and most ethical professionals I have ever dealt with. He was firm when he needed to be on my behalf, but stayed pleasant, amicable, and fair to everybody in the transaction. He is smart and funny and just a joy to spend time with, which turned a normally stressful experience into a really pleasant one .
Walker Real Estate (Scott Walker and Erin Prohaska) set up a first meeting with me and their presentation and pre-meeting preparation were excellent. In addition, both were extremely friendly, down to earth, and understood our needs / requirements for our idea home. This made our decision to proceed with Walker Real Estate an easy one. Scott and Erin did not disappoint!
Both Scott and Erin did extensive research on homes for sale and sent us frequent emails with property details. And, it was even easier to schedule a home showing as Scott's schedule was very flexible and he catered to my busy office schedule and family schedule. Scott and Erin have an extensive knowledge of materials, finishes, home layouts, what to look for, what to avoid, what to ask, possible problem points in structure, paint/finishes, storage, insulation, furnaces, etc...
This allowed us to stay clear of homes that could potentially be high maintenance or troublesome in the near future. However, we were also looking during the unusually long winter months of March, April, and May - and we were not able to find a home that met our criteria during this time after as many showings as were possible at the time.
We then started exploring having a new home built - as a first time home buyer and with no previous experience of any construction knowledge, and without any knowledge of what exactly is involved in home building.
Scott and Erin - again came to the rescue. They helped us in every aspect of having a new home built, from ideas for features/upgrades, to finalizing the contract and adding contingencies that protected me, the buyer, in the final offer sheet. Erin and Scott took turns focusing on their strong points and everything was thoroughly explained. Erin and Scott were available at any time during business hours and at night, on weekends, and even federal/public holidays! They made sure everything is clear and provided excellent advice throughout the process.
Once construction started Erin and Scott helped with picking out flooring, stone type, cabinets, and kept us informed of what to avoid that may affect resale value.
Furthermore, Erin was in contact with my lender to provide them with all the details and she also clearly explained all the fine print details in plain English so there was no room for confusion.
Scott and Erin also clearly communicated our requests to the builder and conveyed the builder's responses back to us. We were lucky enough to have a good builder, but even the best of them can be hard to reach or get an answer out of, which was the case with our builder as well. However, Erin made sure our concerns were delivered to the builder and that we received prompt responses/answers from the builder.
As construction was nearing completion, I decided to switch lenders, which resulted in a lot of difficulties since the new lender made everything unreasonably difficult for all parties involved due to their lack of communication and laziness. I would recommend consulting with Scott or Erin before selecting your lender as this choice can make a big difference in how smooth your home purchasing experience goes. Scott/Erin have worked with many customers and they can give you the best advice based on their many years of dealing with various lenders!!!
Anyhow, Erin was able to make a very difficult situation with the new lender and was able to keep both I (the buyer) and the builder in the loop as to what the lender was attempting to do. Once the house was completed, the lender's bureaucratic and incompetent workers were not able to close on the agreed upon date - which soured things with the builder since it was costing the builder money each day the house was not closed on. Erin worked very hard during this process and was able to keep the builder on t he same page, and five days later, we were able to close on the new home. They did everything in their power (phone calls to bank managers, and contract amendments) to make sure the home was ours without any unnecessary delay caused by the multiple layers of bureaucracy at my new lender.
Walker Real Estate went well above and beyond all of my expectations, which were high to begin with. They really do set the bar extremely high that no other Realtor (in my opinion) can even come close to. I honestly do not believe any other Realtor would have had the patience and unbiased advice that Walker Real Estate provided. It is because of Walker Real Estate that we now have a perfect home!
If you are looking buy a used, new, build, or to sell a home, you cannot go wrong with Walker Real Estate. You can put your complete trust in Walker Real Estate and they will actually listen to and understand your needs rather than pressure you to do something they want you to do! They will make the entire process very smooth and as stress free for you as possible.
In the 7-months of working with Walker Real Estate, they made us feel like we were their only customer ! Their hard work really showed and was evident throughout the entire process!
Walker Real Estate is the best Realtor in and around Madison, and you will be extremely happy that you have selected Walker Real Estate as your Realtor! This is a fact!
