We are so incredibly grateful that Union cab has five accessible vans in the City of Madison.  My husband is a wheelchair user, and  there are times when he is unable to transfer in our own car.
Every time we have used this service, they have been polite, prompt and extremely professional both with the dispatch and the driver.  We will definitely use them again. The driver texted us when he was three minutes out, which meant we could be ready to go when he got here.

I am absolutely furious with the person who took my information when I ordered a cab for the next day. I was trying to give him as much information about my address as possible because I live in a new subdivision and it doesn't show up on gps. Many people have not been able to find my house and I'm worried about the cab being late and my sister missing her early morning flight. I asked him if he had a system where he could take detailed notes for the driver and his response was "Mam, you must have worked here before because that's what I'm doing". He was short and snippy and was clearly annoyed with me the minute I asked a question. He was even rude about the fact that I was calling from a different number then the contact number I provided. Seriously? He could have asked nicely.
He was not nice, friendly or remotely close to courteous. The only reason I didn't take it to a supervisor and make a big deal is because I don't want him lashing out and canceling the cab. I have known Union to be timely but in the future I will adjust my schedule accordingly and use a service that appreciates customers.
I will not ever use Union Cab again. I don't need to be treated like garbage when I'm seeking them out so I can pay them for a service. Shame on the person who answered the phone and shame on Union Cab for employing rude, disrespectful people to answer their phones. Pretty sad if that is the image they are projecting.

Punctual. Called as he was about to arrive. Came directly to my doorstep. Very enjoyable conversation during the ride. He knew where I was going with no problem finding it.

They are too expensive.  They are also not a union, despite the name.  Otherwise, a fair taxi service.
Response from UNION CAB
"Dear (removed member name), I was recently hired as Union Cab's Business Manager and have been trying to respond to feedback. My apology that you have not received an answer until now. Please allow me to explain our service. Union Cab is a worker-owned cooperative. Each of our employees who passes training and probationary requirements receives 1 share of common stock and becomes an owner of the business. Every time you ride with Union Cab you are doing business with an owner. We believe this results in more professional, personally responsible service to our patrons. Our name comes from the fact that our founders formed a union to seek changes from the owner of three separate cab companies. They won the fight, purchased the businesses, and no longer had a need for a union. Given the origins of our cooperative, they decided to name the new taxi company Union Cab. Union Cab supports labor unions and recognizes solidarity with them. We do not cross picket lines to do our business, and we advise our customers of this if such action is requested. Our record on supporting unions and labor rights is excellent. As to your suggestion that we are too expensive, allow me to clarify our pricing. Because we are a worker-owned cooperative, Union Cab reinvests in it's operations and members far more than other companies. Our members have access to health, dental, and vision insurance, and we are working on establishing a retirement plan. This is entirely contrary to the trend in our society to no longer provide benefits to workers. Our efforts mean that our costs are higher. Additionally we are the most environmentally-friendly cab company. We are Tier 1 Green Masters certified by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. Union Cab has the largest hybrid fleet. Our shop uses environmentally non-toxic products, recycles and reuses all possible materials, and is powered by solar panels on the roof. One of our core values is to run our operations in an environmentally responsible way. I hope that this answers your concerns and makes you reconsider use of our services. We believe that the quality we provide both to our customers and our workers is worth the price we charge. Thanks for listening. Sincerely, Paul Bittorf, Union Cab Business Manager"

Cab showed up on time. Driver got me where I needed to go at a reasonable price. ($3.50 for a ride inside Sun Prairie). Cab was clean.

They usually come earlier than the appointment and they help you with your luggage. I usually use them to get to the airport. They do a good job and their prices are reasonable. They don't smoke in the cabs and they don't honk at you if you're late. They are flexible as well.

They are very prompt and I like that they don't go here and there picking up other passengers. They are a little pricey, but I think it is worth it. The drivers have been polite and helpful and in a good mood. And it is a nice additional service that right before your taxi is supposed to come to your home they call you to tell you so. I would definitely use them again.

They have always showed up on time and I get to where I need to go on time. The drivers haven't shown impatience with other vehicles, cyclists, etc. They are friendly but not overly talkative -- if I'm busy with something else (reading or work), they leave me alone, and if I'm not, they engage in appropriate small talk. I like the fact that Union Cab is a worker-owned cooperative, I wonder if that helps worker morale and is why the drivers are pleasant.
