The Dog Den

I could not be happier with The Dog Den! They are amazing with my two dogs (9 years old and 10 years old), both of whom are rescues and tend to be anxious. This was our first doggy daycare experience. The communication has been excellent with regard to how my dogs are doing while in daycare. I have no worries about the welfare of my dogs while they are in the capable and loving hands of the staff of The Dog Den. I highly recommend The Dog Den.

Great staff. Owner Laura has always insured that our dog is well taken care of, and is flexible on days and times. Our dog Willy has been going there for over 7 years, and is always excited to get there. He comes home tired and happy! and quot;A tired dog, is a good dogand quot;.

I found the Dog Den online and based on some reviews of them being reasonably and well priced with good quality, so I thought I would try a puppy playgroup with our newly adopted rescue pup. Shortly after this, we found out our puppy had to have surgery(s) on a growth deformity and then would be under a really restrictive exercise routine. This made for a puppy who did not always know what to do with a lot of pent up energy. Both my husband and I have come from families with dogs and had prepared for our adoption by reading a lot of training material but even with all that, It got to the point where the behavior issues were constant and I knew I needed some help. I didn't know how much help or what kind and really just wanted to talk to someone about things while we got through this and quot;rest/recoveryand quot; period. Of the many trainers that I called, the Dog Den trainers were the only people willing to listen and provide help/suggestions over the phone and in a subsequent email for no charge. They were so helpful and so supportive that the minute we could do group classes, we signed up with them for group classes and daycare. When we got our second rescue, who was a bit older, there was no question where we would go - the dog den! She came with some fear issues and the socialization of daycare along with training has been immensely helpful in making her a much more calm and happy part of our family.
As a more concrete example, since we began training our first dog (who is now a little more than one) has an extremely reliable response to come, his name, sit, down, stay, wait, etc. even when he is off leash and around distractions. When he started he was almost uncontrollable when he got excited and did not care what you said if another dog or person was around. As he is only one, we know that training needs to continue to be a focus for him and he now enjoys his more advanced classes at the Dog Den.
The bottom line: The staff at the dog den are all wonderful and their quality is unmatched. They are all my ideal when I think about who I want to care for my dogs, they absolutely love their four legged clients and it shows. For a long time my dog had to wear a brace on his arm to go to daycare and he had to be watched during and quot;lunch timeand quot; or and quot;rest timeand quot; to make sure he didn't take it off himself or nibble at it. They were always very vigilant about this and asked us to demonstrate how to put it on properly so that he could take it off to rest or go in the pool and they could get it back on later. It was awesome and such a relief that he could play and I wouldn't worry about it.
If you are considering training or daycare in the Madison area and want the best for your four legged family members, the Dog Den is really the only place to go.
As a side note, we have also had a staff person from the Dog Den stay with our dogs while we were out of town a few times and our dogs just love her (us too). She is great at the extra needs stuff - medication and exercise restrictions- and works on training she knows we have been working on.

The Dog Den is absolutely wonderful. We have nothing bad to say about the staff and services they provide. Our dog absolutely loves going to doggy day care. Every time he walks in he is given an extremely warm welcome by the staff. The staff is great, always available to answer questions and provide you with updates on your dog. We buy the 20 day package and send him twice a week. We have also taken a number of classes with the Dog Den. The classes have all been wonderful. We, as well as our dog, learn a lot in each class. The classes are small so everyone gets individual attention and guidance. We would recommend the Dog Den to anyone!
