About us
Sauk Point Veterinary Clinic opened in March 2010. Dr. Kristine Collins has been a practicing veterinarian since 2001. She believes that visiting a quieter, comfortable environment is better in assessing an animal's overall health, and a smaller clinic allows for individual attention and better follow-up. Sauk Point Veterinary Clinic employs 2 Certified Veterinary Technicians and 1-2 Veterinary Assistants during the year. Dr. Collins partners with Certified Veterinary Specialists to bring you diagnostic ultrasound, echocardiology, specialized surgeries, and acupuncture that can be done in clinic. As of December 2010 an annual exam is $38. Rabies Vaccines $22.50, Dog Distemper $19, Cat Distemper $20.25. Puppy and Kitten packages available. House call additional charge depends on location (most are $15-$42). We offer 5% discount on services if you mention you are a member of Angie's List. Pets and their people are important to us. Our goal is to take the extra time and make the extra effort to give your pet the best care in a comfortable environment. In today's world a pet's care may depend on the pet's history, the owner's ability or needs, the pet's job or work status. Whatever the case, we make sure you have a thorough knowledge of the options. We want you to feel confident in the choices you make for your pet's care. Sauk Point Veterinary Clinic donates a portion of their clinic and their time to Angel's Wish. Angel's Wish is a volunteer organization that helps cats find homes. Sauk Point Veterinary Clinic also helps the Earth's environment. We are a paperless clinic and have installed digital x-ray machine to eliminate chemical use.

I initially went to Sauk Point Veterinary clinic because my cat was burned on the stomach by the warming device a previous vet had used during his teeth cleaning. The burn was 3" X 4". Dr. Lanphear gave my cat 2 cold laser treatments to try to heal the wound but the wound did not respond. Over the course of a month, my cat eventually stopped eating and drinking. I called the clinic to inform them and Dr. Collins returned my call. She spent a great deal of time with me on the phone and based on our conversation, I decided to take my cat to the Veterinary Emergency Service. They determined that my cat needed surgery to remove the burned tissue because they believed he had an infection based on his elevated white blood cell count. The surgery resulted in a 7" suture from sternum to his groin. Sauk Point Veterinary Clinic followed up with me on numerous occasions to check on my cat's progress. When I had to take my cat to the clinic three days after the surgery because of the sneezing, Dr. Lanphear examined the suture to be sure the wound was healing. The clinic then followed up with me a week later to check on my cat's progress.
All of the members of the clinic were very caring and concerned. I believe the service my cat received was wonderful.
throughout the years, and have not experienced a team as dedicated and
genuinely helpful as Dr. Colin?s team. They have helped us with an array of services, from toenail clippings to emergency situations, for three dogs and one cat. Dr. Collins always takes the time to explain, and educate. I have never felt rushed or like I?ve over stayed my welcome. We have found our forever veterinary home with Dr. Collins. Thank you for all you do!
I had decided after 5 years to look for a new vet for a couple of reasons. One reason was affordability - my current vet was just too expensive for my budget anymore and it seemed my dog was needing more and more care, tests, etc. Second, I had problems with their hours. I couldn't just drop off or pick up my dog without a 1/2 hr min. consultaton which I simply couldn't do without taking off work and I had started a new full-time job. I understand my dog has a lot of issues and I want him to have the best quality of life ... but there comes a point where you feel overwhelmed and don't know what to do.
After doing a lot of research, I decided to visit Sauk Point Vet Clinic based on their services, hours, reviews, location, etc. I had emailed all the medical information I had to Dr. Collins and when my dog and I arrived she was well informed, friendly (my dog was extremely less nervous) and very good at educating me on what we were dealing with, how we could diagnose his symptoms, expenses, etc.
I feel very confident in her abilities and knowledge, her desire to figure out puzzles, and her dedication (she even went above and beyond calling a dog food company to see what was available for my dog and his issues). If you're looking for a vet who will give you informed and affordable options, I highly recommend you visit them.
They were very informative and explained exactly what they were doing, how the medicines worked and how to take care of our dog.
I highly recommend them.
"It is true that we are not the type of boarding facility needed for most people and their pets. However, we will board cats because of our quieter atmosphere or animals with special medical needs. For most dogs, many need the type of exercise and attention given at the larger kennels. For that reason the member has a valid point when it comes to healthy, dogs. Thank you, member, for the opportunity for us to clarify our focus."
