I moved over to them from Taby and Jack's which is very good but far from my new house.
Out of 12+ weeks I went there, I and my dog had a good time,
I was expecting the same last saturday but was just the opposite.
There was a new lady managing the playgroup and she wanted to bring some new rules, such as "dog owners always watch dogs" , which I usually do, except when I have to step out into their hallway to grab a coffee.
When I took off a few seconds and came back, this lady (she calls herself management) was standing there staring at me, and she almost shouted saying I needed to stay with the dog. I understood she is having a bad day, but decided to be compliant.
My dog is a teddy bear pup named buttercup, he is 16lb does not hurt anyone (or cannot). But he loves to mingle. He was trying to get on top of another dog, owned by a pregnant woman (and I am asian Indian male) - just get on top, not for any other intentions. Usually, in such cases the people around (especially managers) gently pull the mounting dog so nobody is annoyed. And I always encourage them to do so.
However, this person, who, for some reason (which I do not understand even now) , was already annoyed with me, says to me , "you need to keep your dog under control otherwise he needs to be on leach". This is the very first time my dog, out of 3 years he has been with us, received such a comment. Puzzled, I asked her, why? isn't this what many dogs do? (In fact there was another small dog always trying to mount my dog)? At this point, she escalated the altercation towards asking me to leave. She even offered me full refund, after I reminded that my dog is not violent to demand such an action and, also I earned the right to be there.
The only reason she gave me was she wants to give the pregnant customer's dog a pleasant time. Which, I totally agree, but not by evicting a compliant customer like me!
I decided to exercise my right to be there, rest of the hour and I stayed there with my dog. I made sure he does not mount the pregnant woman's dog. I in fact told that woman that she can feel free to let me know if there is a problem (and she was not really complaining to my knowledge)
My dog has been there 12 weeks and has never been perceived as someone who needs a leach.
And I never received such an invitation to leave the place for such compliant behavior.

I intend to visit this place one more time test if this was a one-time thing, or if I need to need to take this legal.
I was going to recommend this place, and also possibly hire them to board my dog this summer, but it may not happen due to last Saturday.
I do not want people to like or appreciate me, but they had no right to ask me to leave.

I also really liked that after just a visit or two the staff there got to know our names and treated us more like friends rather than just another number. The staff seemed genuinely happy to see our dogs again too, always greeting them and offering them a treat if they sat politely (Thank you for reinforcing good manners!!)
We just recently relocated to Ohio and after three years of using Ruffin' Its services we are really struggling to find a facility here that even comes close in comparison. Many facilities here do not have a limit on the number for daycare and/or they just put all dogs regardless of size and temperament in a room together. We loved that Ruffin' It was very strict on their low capacity numbers and they interviewed you and your dog in person prior to daycare to make sure it would be a good fit. This usually means there is a wait list as you have to plan in advance, but its worth the wait not to take the risk at a crowded place where it is difficult for the staff to monitor and intervene with the dogs or give everyone attention.
I highly recommend Ruffin' It. There may be other places in the Madison area that are a tad cheaper( we had a disappointing experience at one of those places before we found Ruffin' It ) but I do believe you get what you pay for with Ruffin' It, and its worth the extra few bucks per day to have peace of mind while you're away.

Riley has a also boarded with Ruffin' It many times over the last 8 years. I love that I can go out of town with no worries about his care. He always is happy to "vacation" at Ruffin' It Resort. I usually order a suite with a patio, which he loves. He usually drags his toys to the patio, so I know he enjoys that outside access. The 2 hours of play time that comes with the night of boarding is great to so that he is occupied and not bored. He goes no where else, Ruffin' It is the best.

We loved that we could peek in to see our girl on the webcam during daycare hours or during her 2 hour play time each day of her stay. It was a big relief to see she was doing just fine while we were away. This is the first time we have kenneled her so we had a little anxiety.
The suite (kennel) is quite large so she was not being shoved in to a little crate. In the summer I would reserve the suite that includes an outdoor patio. In January, that didn't seem necessary.
The team at Ruffin It was very kind at drop off and pick up and when we called in to see how she was doing. They were honest that she had a little confusion the first night of her stay. She paced in her kennel not quite sure what was going on but they helped her through this with a frozen PB Kong which helped settle her down. In hind site, we should have dropped her off in the morning for daycare but we dropped her off in the evening so she hadn't had a chance to tire out and settle in slowly.
The only reason I gave a B for responsiveness was that I had completed the Enrollment Packet and emailed it in the morning. I hadn't received a call by mid afternoon so I contacted them to be sure it was received.
Our girl came home clean (they gave her a bath which was included in her stay) and tired! We picked her up in the morning and she was snoring 10 minutes after we got her home.

"Thank you for taking the time to rate our resort! Although it was a while ago, I do remember your two darling schnoodles, Charlie & Riley!! Really appreciate your comments that Ruffin' It Resort is a great place & that we were very good with your fur babies. I was saddened by the low rating on price...we do realize we cost more than most boarding centers, but we also provide a higher level of attention and care. we truly strive to customize each guest's stay and do whatever it takes to keep them comfortable, happy, healthy...and beyond that-- that they have fun during their stay. I hope you don't mind my attempt to explain some of the 'special touches' that set Ruffin' It apart from the rest and therefore require higher pricing than some of the other boarding centers in our area: Every social guest receives 2 hours of complimentary group play every day plus 8 potty breaks right up until 10P, report cards with photos of their stay, excellent ratio of caretakers (all behavior trained and certified in Red Cross Pet CPR/First Aid) to number of guests, wash all belongings, web cams in all 3 playparks, separate dogs based on size & activity level for all play time and outs (for safety & compatibility), we provide coats & raincoats in inclement weather, tend to any special diets/requests, use all natural high quality treats, use treat-motivated positive reinforcement for good behaviors, provide cuddle during 'tuck-in' time along with daily health check, will take guests to their veterinarian if problems arise, have special paw friendly surfaces both indoors & outdoors, special hi-tech ventilation system for constant clean fresh air, all hotel rooms are private (cannot see other dogs which can be stressful), Night Manager on site-- right near the guest hotel rooms, we use hospital-grade cleaners only (safe for pets & smell great; most places use bleach which can burn your dogs' skin/paws), 3 large indoor/outdoor climate controlled playparks, guests are kept in small groups (16 max) for safety and compatible play....and we'll do our absolute best to accommodate any special requests. We also have Saturday Playgroups where parents and pooches can stay & play together for an hour in one of our state-of-the art play parks-- coffee & donuts too! In addition, we have 'Pooches-in-Pajamas' slumber parties; small groups of guests (7 max) who spend their entire stay together as a group with their own caretaker (they even sleep with him/her!). Great for guests who are highly social or have separation anxiety. We love our Madison community and sponsor and participate in both dog & human fundraising and charitable events (Guide Dog Associations (both WAGS & Occupaws), GRRoW (golden retriever rescue), GPA (Greyhound rescue), Angels Wish, Operation Baghdad Pups, to name a few....Cystic Fibrosis & 2nd Harvest Food Bank...) "You guys are the best!! Your review made me chuckle, especially the part regarding Koko and her 'tennis matches' in the Presidential Suite. She's definitely an Ace player:) We absolutely adore Ripley & Koko and are always excited when we see they're 'vacationing' with us...especially when their names are on the 'Welcome' chalkboard because that means we get to see them THAT day!! We truly enjoy their parents, too, and are all envious of their many holiday getaways...I always ask where you're off to and we dream about how much fun you're having.
