Countertops and Backsplashes
Absolutely, a horrible experience. I ordered two storm doors on Aug. 30, 2014. Home Depot's install contractors, Crew2, screwed up the first measurement. After four weeks of getting the run around at Home Depot in which 3 different people told me they would call me back and never did, the second measurement was scheduled for Oct 28. I made arrangements to leave work a little early so I could be home for the measurement. Steve from Crew2 called me early that day and said he was in the area and would stop by my house to do the measurements. I said I had planned to be there later at our designated time and could not take off work any earlier. He assured me it was very simple at that he would be sure to measure both doors this time. So I thought how could they screw up twice? So he swung by my house and measured for the second time. By early November someone from Crew2 called me to schedule an install date...the earliest they had Dec 11! I take off work on Dec 11 to be there for the install between 1 and 3:00. By 4:15 I had not heard anything. I finally get a hold of Steve on the phone at 4:45 and he made excuses that his partner was throwing up with fever and that's why he was running late. So he finally shows up at 5:45pm, I've burned a sick day at work, and when Steve hangs the first door I told him it was the wrong handle placement. First he tries to blame it on Home Depot, then on me, and then finally he looks at his measurements and admits HE wrote down the wrong thing when he came out to do the second measurement! So he takes down the door, leaving a huge split in the doorframe on the front of my house. So finally my doors are ordered correctly and due to be delivered on Dec. 29. Dec. 29 there is no delivery. I call HD and am told that because of the Holiday, deliveries were pushed back. Well no one told ME that! I was expecting them to be delivered to my house on Dec. 29 as I was told. So, according to Angi at Home Depot, the doors are guaranteed to be on the truck on Wed. Dec 30 and ready for pick up at the store by Friday, Jan 2. I hired my own install guy because I did not want Steve from Crew2 to touch my house! My install guy shows up to pick up my doors at HD on Friday Jan 2. No doors. He spent a half hour there trying to locate my doors. Then they say they haven't come in yet. Someone from HD said they would call me to let me know. Of course do one did. I only learned of it through my install guy. I will never again work with Home Depot or Crew2. So unprofessional, unreliable, and no one really knows what is going on over there. It is unbelievable the amount of screw ups that took place. It is going on almost 5 months since I ordered my doors. I've already made payments on them and they are not even installed! Save yourself the misery and get your doors somewhere else!

Kitchen and Bath Remodeling, Flooring
This was my first remodel and should have done more research. My designer quit or was fired and nobody informed me. My designer quoted the job at $6000 less than the actual cost. Home Depot reimbursed me $3000. I constantly had to call and check to see if/when any of the work was going to be scheduled to be completed. I cancelled my flooring order after they still had not scheduled for the flooring installation 2 months after I ordered the materials. I actually used Angie's List to find another company to complete the flooring. I also cancelled my appliances and ordered from Best Buy. My project manager was from Crew 2 and did not get the work completed in a timely manner even after I had made numerous complaints. I did not have appliances or a working sink in my kitchen for 2 months. My cabinets were delivered and sitting in my garage for a month before the project manager scheduled an cabinet installation date. This was a total disaster and I will never work with a Home Depot store again.

Carpet Sales and Installation
Everything went fine but there was a really bad smell from the installation of the carpets, which we weren’t told about. We had to leave the house for the weekend because we all were coughing and we didn’t know anything about that. The quality was fine. I am really not sure if we would use them again; it is a maybe for now.

Windows
I had 3 windows replaced by Home Depot and they were high quality, double glazed windows. They were great, Home Depot begins the process and the sales person comes to your house and then I signed the contract and then they send the installers. The installers were great, they worked well with the Home Depot project manager and they were quiet and courteous, pleasant and they left the place clean.

Appliance Repair
Overall the purchase and installation process went well, except that Home Depot forgot to send the kit which allows the machines to stack properly when it was ordered. They had it overnighted and someone out the next day to complete the installation.

Hardwood Flooring Service
They have everything in there. It was just cheaper price and the labor was even cheaper. They had a special which was $99 for labor for installation where as someone else that wanted to charge $35 an hour. They actually did the price match. Everybody else wanted to charge like $1000 to get it done and it was a big difference with Home Depot. I was looking for so long and finally got them. They did everything that they were supposed to do. They were here on time and they were very professional.

Store personnel were not well versed in the ordering process and promised to deliver within two weeks. After hearing nothing for a month, I called daily for a week. Four people promised to check into it and call me back. None did. I finally went into the store and talked with the special orders people. They called the vendor, found the product was delayed for another three weeks. When it finally arrived, it was a month late and not what we ordered. The store was unable to complete the order as ordered, track it, or respond to my enquiries.

I thought the price was reasonable. They had the right tools. He knew what he was doing. The finished job was better than I would ever do.

Gutter Repair and Replacement
Salesman arrived to make estimate on time, and was polite and professional. However, his estimate was $1000.00 over the other local contractors who had made estimates for the same job. There was no differencre in the size of the job, or the materials, so I was surprised by this! I asked the estimator how HD arrived at that price, and he didn't have a good answer. He did say that were licensed and insured, but that was true of the other companies I contacted. I did not use Home Depot for this project, and probably would not contact them again based on this experience.

Gutter Repair and Replacement
I used home depot to install a front door. I liked the service I received and the idea of having one company doing the various jobs I needed done. So I had them give me an estimate and hired them to do the work. They did the job in a very timely manner. It was a 2-person crew who worked on my home from early morning until 7PM and finished the project within a couple of days. There were people from the store who came out and made sure that I understood the work that was completed. I am a single woman who lives on her own, so I am sensitive about what I am going to pay and if I will receive quality work. They did a wonderful job and I will hire them to do more work on my home.

Carpet Sales and Installation
The team from Crew 2 which is I believe the subcontractor that does repair work for Home Depot was timely and did a reasonable job. They did ding up a few spots in the walls but nothing a little touch up paint wouldn't fix. The most difficult aspect of this job was that from the time I shopped for carpet at home depot through installation I never was able to contact the same person twice. There were always different employees in the store. The person who measured for my carpet was different than the people who installed it and I often had trouble getting in contact with someone who knew answers to my questions. Overall, it worked out but I got the feeling that if there were problems with the job I wouldn't have anyone to contact directly with my concerns.

Disastrous. We are almost 7 months out and still not completely finished. Our mistake was to hire them as "contractors." They have a different company coordinate the workers without ever coming on site. The first setback was when the electrician said the carpenters could fix a drywall defect. The carpenters then came in and said it was too big a job and we'd be better off with a dry-waller. Once the drywall was done, the carpenters weren't available for a few weeks. The plumber set up a temporary sink that leaked repeatedly. He swore and badmouthed the other workers. The electrician also badmouthed others. Meanwhile, he drilled holes through the bottom of the cabinets when mounting the lights. He cut a hole in the drywall that wasn't covered by switch plates. He gouged the wall. The carpenters had to come back numerous times to fix problems created by others. We had to reorder cabinet doors multiple times. It was an overall nightmare, largely because no one really supervised the job.

Hardware & Home Improvement Stores, Window Treatments
The employees in the flooring department at Home Depot (where window treatments are also sold) were almost uniformly inept and unable to complete their jobs. We were given misinformation about the blinds, then we attempted to start an order and found that the sales guy hadn't ever submitted the order. After several visits and a total of 3-4 hours' investment of time, someone from the customer service area was able to actually get the order submitted. It took an additional 30 minutes to get all the computer glitches worked out so we could pay for the order. A week later, I was contacted about a minor problem with our order; that was resolved after 3-4 phone calls. The blinds arrived at my house, and I could not reach the installer for weeks. We played phone tag and I had to leave them pages about 5 times daily. An installation date was set (for a time convenient for the INSTALLER, not me) and was subsequently canceled by the installer. My blinds still aren't installed.

We put money down on the project at the end of September. The first time we saw the installer was mid-October. It took two visits for the cabinets to be installed, but there was finishing work left to do (two cabinet doors were the wrong style and some filler needed to be installed above the cabinets over the fridge). The countertop was installed mid-November, but the guy, Rick, seemed dumbfounded that we needed the sink and dishwasher plumbed. He also left the house that day WITHOUT doing the last of the finishing work on the cabinets. Then, nothing happened. In JANUARY, we learned Rick had been fired and a new crew would finish the job. The new crew finished the job FIVE MONTHS LATER! I'm not kidding. The week after the job was complete, the Home Depot expediter said we owed them another $800 and did I want to pay that over the phone. I refused her offer because I knew they had not credited us for the work we did. Yep. Turns out they owed us $1200. Nice try, Home Depot.

Carpet Sales and Installation
I spent time picking out carpet with a gentleman at the Flooring Desk and ended up having a service provider come to our home to measure our spaces. During the whole process, I reiterated the fact that we had asbestos tile in some of the rooms that were to be carpeted and that the carpet had to be installed OVER the tile. I told that to the gentleman at the Flooring Desk. I told that to the service provider who measured all of our spaces that were to receive new flooring. At no point was I told that the company will NOT even consider dealing with a room that has asbestos tile in it. I called a week later to find out what the estimate for the carpet and installation were. At that time I was told that there was a problem holding up the estimate. Only after asking what the problem was, was I told that Home Depot and its contractors will NOT even install carpet over the existing tile. I was upset and demanded a refund for the price they charged to have the spaces measured. Now what?
