Green Carpet Cleaning

Eric/Erik was late for 9:30 appointment, but was cordial and polite. As he struggled with equipment, I commented that the company should provide him with a cart to carry hoses, cords and bucket. Later, when my ceramic tile floors were swamped, I realized that a sponge mop should also be part of his gear. Their business, not mine. Before he began work, we talked price. He estimated that I have 868 sq. ft. of carpet (white!) and gave me a price of 30 cents per. We haggled and he took 10% off (which I had seen in their ad.) As he worked, the fuses blew at least 5 times. I was glad that I had installed a new circuit breaker box 4-years ago, so there was no problem clicking them back on. But, I wonder how other owners in my condo who have not replaced the fuse boxes might be affected. And what about older homes? During the work period, Eric/Erik asked if he could take my keys with him because he needed to go to his truck (unmarked white van) and needed them to get back in to our locked building. Sure, no problem. He was gone for more than 10 minutes. Was he making a copy of my key? No, silly person, he's probably phoning his boss or a friend. When he came back with a small white rag, my gut roiled again. I have rags. When the job was finished, I looked into my dining area and the white carpet looked terrific! No spots. I could not go into other rooms because they were wet and I filled out Green Carpet Cleaning form with very good marks, with the caveat that I would comment further when I saw the 2 bedrooms. Perhaps because it has been very humid in Madison, it took almost 3 days for the carpet to become dry. I know because I went thru 16 pairs of white socks walking on the WET carpet. Weird thing was that that wetness from the socks dried on my palms and looked like a white coating. On Friday morning, 7/16/2010, the carpet seemed dry and I was thrilled until I looked at dining area and saw the same old spots. Also true for hall and den/computer room. When I noticed that the cleaning had not gone up to baseboards, I got angry. Called Green Carpet Cleaning to express my concerns. I asked what they used and mentioned the 'white' stuff that dried on my hands. Phone person didn't have a clue about what they use to clean. To their credit, they offerred to send Eric/Erik back to correct situation. Okay, set for 7/21. BUT when the alleged Green Carpet Cleaning Company called to confirm the appointment, my caller ID showed that the call came from "Madison Locksmith." Does this suggest that key-making in the back of the unmarked van is possible? You betcha and no thanks to a return visit from Erik/Eric. Before going on a tear, I tried to check out Green Carpet Cleaning/Madison Carpet Cleaning, etc. and some of their allied locksmith services via Dept. of Financial Institutions. Too smarmy to relate. Bottom line: Green Carpet Cleaning is probably not a company with which you and I want to do business
