Eric Welch Painting

I would not recommend Eric Welch painting. I hired his company to paint less than 1000 sq ft and the job took 21 days to complete. In that time, I had to have him come back to: repaint the bathroom (the old paint was showing through), repaint a portion of the kitchen (there was grass painted into the wall), and to remove the paint splatter on my newly finished hardwood floors. When I hesitated to pay Eric his full requested price, I felt he refused to take any responsibility and gas light me. He explained it I didn’t know how contracting worked—most jobs aren’t finished in time or for the same price. He then proceeded to refer to me as high maintenance for asking for the repairs. I was quoted a job to be finished in 3-5 days. His communication skills left me wondering what days he would be working or not. I waited to move all my belongings to the rooms he was painting. I spent multiple hours cleaning up the paint dust from his drop cloths (he originally gave a discount for having to clean up). I still have paint stains in the cracks between some floorboards. There are still spots on a few walls where the old paint is still showing through. The closets have drip marks in the paint. There is paint on my bathtub and shower curtain. Eric ended up dropping the price when I provided all of this evidence. I debated painting it myself but wanted it done fast and right. Instead I was left belittled, frustrated, and with a mediocre product that I had to fix.

In addition to painting the walls with similar colors, they removed two non-functional, unsightly intercom boxes, filled and resurfaced the holes. Removed wall paper from one room and resurfaced the walls. Sanded, stained and varnished seven window sills. Eric was the low bidder, and he and Leslie wasted no time and did a great job. No reservation about rating him A+.

They got this project done very quickly and with high quality. Workers showed up when they were supposed to and worked with urgency to get the project done. The price was very reasonable compared to other bids.

Eric has a good crew working for him that take pride in their work. They were friendly, respectful, and responsive, and they explained what they were doing and had done on the job.

Eric and his crew are amazing. We got other bids from popular painters in the Madison area and his came in at almost half the price. Eric was quick to assess the job and provide an estimate. He was willing to start within a couple weeks but super flexible as we needed additional exterior work done prior to painting. He was always responsive to emails and kept us in the loop with the work schedule. I can't say enough about how wonderful it was to work with him. The exterior painting came with a free color consultant appointment and we found that helpful in selecting new colors. The other painters were consistent throughout the entire job (no day laborers) and extremely polite / professional. The houses are close together downtown and they were mindful of our neighbors property and made sure everything was clean around the job site. The house was totally transformed with the new colors and now looks like the craftsman it was supposed to be. It's hard to believe that a bunch of paint could make me fall in love with my house again but Eric and his crew made it happen.

Eric and his crew did a fantastic job painting the exterior of our house. The end-product is even better than I imagined. Eric and his crew were fastidious in their preparation - we had a lot of peeling paint and they took care to collect it all. I haven't seen any paint chips on the lawn. The crew tidied up at the end of every day, keeping their ladders stacked all in one spot. They thoroughly scraped and primed every inch of the house. We had booked Eric late last fall anticipating that we'd be able to get the job done right away in the spring, weather permitting. It was a very late spring but as soon as the forecast turned, Eric contacted me to arrange a start date. When part of the first coat of white trim was painted, it was a little too bright to match our white clad windows (which were not going to be painted). One quick call to Eric and he made sure to tint the white to match. Neighbors have commented on how great the house looks. So, it was really an excellent experience from start to finish and I whole-heartedly recommend Eric!

Eric (and his team) was great from start to finish. He did the most thorough and practical assessment of the four teams we had out to bid on the project, was in great communication throughout. We recruited him late in the season for this project, and we were nervous that the bare wood would go unprotected for another winter, but they came through during a warm spell, worked through the weekend, and did a fantastic job. His price was the best I could find, and his work was excellent. His team cleaned up after themselves every day and was flexible about communicating with different members of our household on different days. We asked them to do quite a bit more work than we originally had scoped in our estimate, and he was flexible and willing to get all of our wooodwork protected when we needed it. They won my complete respect and we will hire them for all our future painting projects.

Eric responded to our request for an estimate. He asked when we wanted the work done. He gave us a tentative date of September 5th but called to ask if he could start the job early. They were truly great. They worked quietly and even came back to make sure the unexpected rain did not cause paint to run. (They repainted several spots that had run with no prodding from us.)
