We worked with Melissa and Robert to do the roughly 2000 square feet of hardwood flooring and 2 bathroom tile jobs. The hardwood flooring came in different lots and in turn came in different sheens. This wasn't realized until the project had been started so we had to have slightly different wood floors installed in our bedrooms vs the rest of our ranch home. Robert does a good job with larger tiles but isn't the best with installing tile that is on a mesh backing. We had them install tile on the ceiling of our shower which came with a $500 "upcharge." When we pointed out how poorly it was done they offered to fix it, which couldn't be accomplished without tearing it down and starting over. We opted to reduce the price which we thought would be an adjustment of what it would cost to do it ($1550 based on their estimate) but were only credited the $500 fee for having it installed on the ceiling. I'm not sure having them redo the ceiling would have produced any better results based on the installation of the floor tiles (same tiles as the ceiling). Plus, the entire project was to take 4 weeks and they were here for almost 5 months and just wanted to wrap things up. They also installed the tile in our back entry butting up to the wood floors, we told them how the door was going to be installed and the tile/wood was still installed incorrectly with the seam of the two showing when you close the door. The final straw was we needed to have 3 - 12x24 tiles replaced in our shower from an issue with our plumber, the quote from Melissa was $1200. When asked about the price we received the response, "Based on our experience in working insurance claim projects, what we have bid is easily within the bounds of what would be covered, so the plumber should have no problems with the claim." The $1200 was just for the removal/replacement of the 3 tiles and didn't include the tile that was needed. At that point we called it quits. The photos attached are of showers that have never been used, this is the final product.
