never return my calls
Response from CLIFF'S CUSTOM CONCRETE
"Hi [Member Name Removed], I am assuming this work is for Spring 2018. I do apologize for not getting back to you as it has been a crazy fall trying to get everything done before the weather changes. I cannot seem to find your paperwork, please let me know your phone number and I will have Cliff call you asap. Again I apologize. Thanks, Lisa"

With my request they responded: "Please let us know if the work area could be accessed with a skid-loader, if not, we will not be interested in bidding. Thanks...." I was not sure what a skid-loader was or how big it would be. They did not get my business.
Response from CLIFF'S CUSTOM CONCRETE
"The reason we asked this question was because online it appeared there was a fence up and access to the back patio seemed limited- so the question was would we be able to get the concrete back there by skid loader or would it have to be wheel barrowed in? We do not have the man-power to use a wheel barrow for a patio so were not a good fit for this project. Sorry if I was not clear. This business decision had nothing to do with "how big" the job was. We do small projects all the time."

Cliff was super friendly, very knowledgeable, and helpful.  He provided information and a quote.  We decided to go with a company who had a similar quote but that did restoration work and had a few extra perks.  We would highly recommend them.

Cliff's Custom Concrete ripped out the cracked concrete pad in front of our garage door and front steps.  The former owner of our house claimed he had this area fixed twice before and when Cliff's crew ripped out the old, we could see why.  There weren't enough expansion joints to begin with and there was not a speck of  rebar or any kind of reinforcement!!!

LOVE our new concrete.  Cliff gave us what I felt was a very reasonable estimate, showed up when they said they would, showed me why the old concrete cracked and poured new WITH rebar and several expansion joints.  I had no idea it would be this attractive and wish I had done this five years ago!

Prompt response for estimate. They followed up with me! Decided to use their servvice since they were highty rated on Angies List and their estimate came in over $1ooo under the others. Work was completed within 24 hrs afte we communicated and agreeded on terms of contract. Arrived on time if not early. Cliff explained what was going to happen and we went over my wishes once again before starting the job. They completed the job on time and on budjet. The work was beautiful and his guys were great. They cleaned up everything and I couldn't be more pleased with his Company. Highly recommend.

When I bought my house, it was obvious that there was some settling occurring under the concrete driveway slabs immediately adjacent to the garage.  The settling caused the slabs to crack and break basically disallowing any mud jacking measures to be employed.  I called numerous contracts in March to come out and quote me the price and discuss the specifics like concrete depth and materials used with Cliff being one of said contractors.
Cliff's quote came in the lowest, and while that was nice, it was not the deciding factor in my decision.  Rather, during our discussion, he described the process and materials he'd be using to perform the work, which is more than I can say occurred with the other contractors.  The downside of going with Cliff was that he was pretty booked (which I've found to be the case with many concrete contractors), so my job wasn't scheduled until 3 months out.  I wasn't in a time crunch, so this wasn't a concern for me, but if this is something that is important for you, just take note to plan ahead properly.
When Cliff and crew came to remove and subsequently replace the concrete, it was all done as he described.  Everyone was very helpful in answering all of my questions and the new concrete looks great.  From my estimates the concrete ranged in thickness from 4.5 - 6 inches in depth, which was within the specs provided.  At this stage, everything is cured and looks great.
Overall I was very happy with the services rendered.  As I said Cliff seemed to be the most knowledgeable of the work being done (probably because he was also involved with most of the work itself), and he also came in the cheapest.  If I have any future concrete work to perform, I will definitely be giving Cliff a call.

Roughly 2/3 of our concrete driveway had cracks and needed to be replaced.  Cliff was very responsive in providing a quote and offered a very reasonable price.  He was also very flexible in scheduling the work - they got us on the books quickly, then rescheduled at our request without complaint, then stayed in touch to offer earlier dates as they finished other jobs.  They were very responsive and courteous to our needs.

The work itself was completed promptly and looks great.  Cliff answered all of our questions and treated us with great respect while at our property.  He also provides detailed instructions how to maintain the concrete, particularly during the first month and the first winter.

Extremely difficult access... very steep bank. Actually, down-right dangerous conditions.
I really can't say enough about Cliff's expertise and willingness to take on this project.
It was stressful for me as a home owner because they were pumping 6 tons of concrete
down a steep bank almost 180ft.
My GC oversaw the work as we were under strict code guidelines. He, too, was very impressed with Cliff
and told me that Cliff will be his go-to guy for any concrete projects that he has in the future.
I should mention that Cliff did a garage floor and driveway for me just a couple of months earlier
and that went so well that I recommended to my GC that he contact Cliff.
I could go on but, I think you get the idea.

Cliff was very informative during the free estimation and consultation.   Drawing from prior experiences, he offered good ideas for our new steps.    It looks great upon completion.    We only drew estimates from 2 contractors, including Cliff.    Cliff's was the better estimate, for what I perceived to be the same quality.    Unique to our situation, we had to work with the City of Madison Water Utility and Street Divisions.   This wouldn't be required for the typical customer, but we had an earlier issue where city had to tear up our approach.   Long story short, it was clear that Cliff has a positive reputation with the City of Madison, and this made things easier working with the City of Madison.
It's only been 2 weeks since completing the work, so time will tell how it holds up to the winter seasons ahead.   But Cliff has done work at a few of our neighbors in the past, and generally their properties are holding up well.
Thank you Cliff and team for the great work!

WOW! Cliff and his team were great. Cliff's estimate was quick and thorough. It is very clear that Cliff knows his business as he covered issues that were not included in other estimates. Cliff's bid was very reasonable. The work was scheduled in a timely manner and performed very efficiently. The crew was courteous and thorough. This was a great experience.

I got many estimates for getting a new driveway to our house.  After meeting with Cliff, he explained the process they use for removal and instillation, and how they use rebar throughout the driveway to help it maintain throughout the extreme cold and heat in Madison - which isn't something everyone does.  We signed the contract and they were very punctual in getting us on their schedule.  Unfortunately, the winter came early and they told us we couldn't get it done until Spring.  I offered to send a deposit to ensure we would get on the list for the Spring, but Lisa in the office told me that it wasn't necessary and assured me we would be one of the first on the schedule.  I really respected the fact that they didn't want to sit on our money for 5 months!
As soon as the frost was getting out of the ground (or at least trying to), I got an email from Lisa telling me we were on the schedule.  We were told our instillation date and she sent over the "proper care of your new driveway" form which had many helpful suggestions to keep the concrete in great shape.  That was when we sent the deposit in.  With rain in the forecast, Lisa and Cliff continued to keep in great contact with me about when I should expect work to begin, which only was delayed for one day.
The crew showed up exactly when I was told they would be there!  Cliff went over all the details with me and even made some suggestions about what he thought would be good small additions to the project (that look amazing!!!!).  And his great service didn't end there - he went over how the gutters on the house should be pitched so all the water isn't going to the downspout by the driveway to make sure it would last longer.  He made sure I didn't have any further questions, went over when we can drive on it and all the other care details with me again before starting the tear out.
On day two of the install, Cliff explained to me how when he removed the front step, it was concrete poured over old concrete.  So to make sure there would be no water going into the house, he added a layer of tin between the house and the newly poured concrete.  That was something he didn't have to do, or even tell me about,  But he took the time to explain the process and let me know what was there and how they made it 1,000 times better!
I have to say this team is amazing!  I am so glad that we found them!  Their work is fantastic, Cliff and his crew is great to work with, they did an amazing clean up after install and Lisa is very professional and keeps great contact with the clients.
If anyone is looking for concrete work, I would highly recommend Cliff's!
