Said they needed to deliver estimate in person - maybe to get some $$ from me right away?
Stood me up at least twice while I was at home waiting for them.
Took a down payment of half. I signed up to have door down and power washing of the house.
Power washers never showed up. Company did not respond to my phone calls, emails, text messages, anything, for over two weeks. I understand they were out of town part of the time but then, seriously, a week after their return?
Door finally done two months after they said it would be done. No predictability as to when they will show up. Decent work on the door but the head banging frustration of trying to communicate with these people is beyond belief. They take your money up front and then they don't show up. No respect for the customer's time.
I have been an Angie's list member for nine years and have NEVER in all that time written a review this negative, but maybe I can save someone else who actually cares about communication from falling into this quagmire.
However, the rest of my experience with the company was less than ideal. I struggled during the entire project with communication. After the initial estimate was complete, I was told production would contact me within a week to discuss scheduling the work and discussing if we wanted test patches done. We waited 2 weeks, then called the company. Several times I talked to someone who said they would let production know, but I had to call back 3 times before I finally received a call to schedule to work.
At that point, the work was scheduled for a Monday morning. I was told I'd get a call Thursday or Friday with details about the exact time the crew would arrive as well as details for what we should prepare. I never received the call. By the time I tried to call the office on Friday, they were closed. The team showed up at 7:30 AM on Monday, and luckily we had prepared for this time frame. However, the lack of communication was really starting to get annoying.
As I said initially, the painting itself was well done. After the project, I noticed that there was a small patch of wall very high up where some of the original color was showing through. Also, we had found a coffee mug left at our house. I received an email from the Marketing/PR manager, asking for feedback, so I replied asking if anyone could stop by the house to pick up the mug and quickly go over the bare patch. That was 2 weeks ago, and I still haven't received a reply.
Unfortunately, I cannot recommend the services of Badger Painting, LLC, as the less-than-stellar communication is too much of a risk.
"First off, we would like to apologize for this negative experience. It is extremely rare. What is more rare is a complaint on communication. Our company prides itself in OVER-communicating. I believe what we have here is a small misunderstanding, followed by an over reaction. Jeremy met with the initial crew and actually painted this home himself. The customer admitted to getting a voicemail confirming the start time (which was left on Friday like we promised) but did not listen to it until half way through the day Monday. Embarrassed by the over-reaction to lack of communication he only told the painters this and not the office staff. Badger Painting rushed out to fix his touch up within 24 hours of receiving the call. They scheduled a gentleman to swing by, and when he got there no one was home at the scheduled time. Upon calling the customer back multiple times, we have still not heard from him. Badger Painting would love nothing more than to finish your touch-ups and leave a satisfied customer. We even communicated so well that we got a customized gift for this customer. After seeing how into sports his small kid was and his big dog, we bought the kid a nerf football and treats for the dog. This went alongside our after care package. I'm disappointed that a small mistake or mis-communication on an otherwise perfect paint job led to such a low rating. I believe if this customer sat back and thought about his experience he'd realize it was significantly better than the venting seen in this review. Feel free to call us at any time, and we would gladly come out and take care of any touch ups."
They bid promptly, showed up on time. They exceeded our expectations. On a scale of A - F, we rate them an A. Communication with Badger Painting has always been great. Their attitude plays a big part in why they have such quality workmanship. Tests of paint and color were always done prior to proceeding, and quality of products chosen helped to make the end result excellent. Customer service counts with this company.
We continue to include them in our home improvement programs, both interior and exterior. We do not hesitate to heartily recommend Badger Painting .
"This homeowner has had work completed, and currently has a lien being processed on her home due to non-payment. We have had multiple professionals out to examine the work, determined it is done to an extremely professional level and still have had no non-payment. This customer and property will soon have a lien filed to collect payment."
"This customer review is filled with mis-truths. We stopped by the customer's employment, as requested, to get a sample chip. No one there knew what we were talking about and sent us away. At that time we called the customer, and they told us they'd like to now cancel the project. Our team informed them the deposits are non-refundable, but they can talk to the owner personally and see what they could do to help them out. The owner approved a refund, and they were sent back their deposit in full."
"I apologize this customer feels as though they did not get what they paid for. Our estimates are very clear. This customer made an attempt to down sell us prior to the sale, and then convince us to add additional work at no cost afterwards. We went over and above to try and meet her expectations, but each time we did, it was met with an additional demand. We stand behind our work, and have always fixed our problems. When this incident was reported to the Better Business Bureau, they found the customer to be unreasonable and at fault for the lack of satisfaction, and that Badger Painting truly went above and beyond to make them satisfied. Note: This is after they gathered e-mails, proposal information, contracts, etc... and examined them thoroughly. We would love to make it up to them, but it doesn't seem as though they've got any interest. Thank you."
At the end of the day, there was a walkaround and then I was asked to sign off. I fault myself in part for not paying closer attention during the walkaround, and fault Badger for not doing a better job of educating me in what to look for (I'd never had a house painted). After the crew left and I had more time to look at everything more carefully, there were a number of small areas on my porch that looked sloppy, some small nooks that weren't painted at all, and, most importantly, a whole section of my house (on an upper floor, not easily visible from the ground) that had not been painted.
I called to inform Badger of the missed area the next day. It was six weeks before I got a call back saying they were going to be in my area the very next day and could finish my house them--but I was on vacation when that call came in, and apparently didn't respond quickly enough because the job never got done. It's now five months later, I think Badger has ceased operations for the season (they use college kids), a recent email to them went unanswered, and thus the job has never been complete. I would, in the future, prefer to use a company that was in operation all year around and used professional painters.
"Thank you for your feedback. Badger Painting operates an office year round, staffed with a full time office manager, residential sales man, commercial sales man, a president and the owner. Badger Painting responds to all e-mails and calls quickly and efficiently. I apologize if this was a mis-communication. We definitely answer all phone calls and handle customers concerns immediately. Badger Painting did not rush this job, and Jeremy actually came out to the site to insure the quality of the job was up to par. Jeremy performed the walk around with the customer at the conclusion of the job with the crew. Due to akward sunlight at that given time, a spot was missed. As soon as Badger Painting was made aware we did everything we could remedy this issue quickly. As of now, the problem has been fixed, and everything on this home looks great. We have painted two of her neighbors and continue to do high quality work in the area. I apologize to this customer for feeling as though we rushed you through the process. However, your crew was staffed with full timers and seasonal painters. We are a full service, year round painting company, fully staffed to handle any of your painting needs. Feel free to call, e-mail, or stop into our office anytime to address any concerns. Thank you"
