I am currently insured through American Family out of Madison WI, in August of 2013 I was involved in a MVA with my car. I was head up the ramp to east bound 494 from South Robert, I was 1/2 to 2/3rds of the way up the ramp when another tried to pass me on the left. The ramp here curves to the right and is 1 lane. I reported the claim to american family promptly expecting am dam to eventually return my deductible. No police no witnesses. Am Fam screwed up the investigation, determined I was at fault and paid the other guy 100%. Now if you know MN comparative neg laws 51/49, plus I was in control of the lane when I was struck from the rear and at an angle. The initial POI my left front tire, the other guys POI was his right front bumper. The impact spun my steering wheel out of my hand gouged my tire tire and damaged my suspension on the left front. Now as an adjuster I knew they blew it, I called the manager of that department Tom Eldridge - he looked at the file and agreed with me, so I expect the rerun of my $500.00 deducted able. He said the only thing he could do was submit the closed file to arbitration, I have 25 years in this business never heard of anything so silly in my life, they already paid the other carrier in full. Eldridge was going to file in arbitration so that the arg panel would rule against him and he Eldridge could say he did all he could do.
I explained to Eldridge I didn't care what he did, but I wanted my deductible back immediately, that I didn't care if it made him and his people look bad. Eventually, I found my way to Wendy Scheper - customer service - Wendy has never actually handled a claim before and just mimicked what she was told. Wendy thinks this situation is resolved and sent me an email thanking me for the opportunity to speak with me and straighten this out. What a moron. Small claims court hearing coming in the very near future.
