Big Country Builders

He was recommended by a friend, who had him build an addition onto their cabin. The wood work was beautifully done. But when it came to our job, he was not good about keeping all the subs on task. We went through three electricians, and still had to pay someone to fix something later.
Also,the work that Al did himself was good, but he didn't follow up on his helpers and there is alot that is sloppily done. I STILL have not
received copies of invoices for some of the work they did foe us...all we got was pieces of paper with dollar amounts on them. I also realized ( too late) that he WAAAAAY overcharged us for building our deck, ($11,000 in labor alone).
I have contacted him several times, and even sent a certified letter, but I still do not have any written documentation of the costs and labor if the jobs the he personally did. There are things that need correcting, but we will have someone else do them.
He has been in the business for a long time....and I heard he was going through a divorce, and that may have affected his ability, but I found him to one day be silent and hard to talk to, and the next moody and angry about something.
 I got the feeling that the job was too big for him, and he did feel comfortable calling out his subs if they did something wrong. He might be just fine with a small job of mostly carpentry.
