Rich is a true expert with extensive knowledge and experience with all types of home insulation. He has developed an approach to attic insulation that eliminates air leaks and maximizes insulation efficiency. While working in our attic, he found many additional insulation and ventilation deficiencies which he repaired at no additional cost. We are already enjoying a much more comfortable living space. We could not be more impressed with his knowledge and dedication to doing the job to the highest standards, and are pleased with the results.

Richard and Justin are pretty cool people, really wonderful to work with. I am very glad we chose them. they are clearly enthusiastic about there work, and take great pride in what they do. We are already seeing the benefits of their work. We had several people work on this problem without improvement. I was impressed by their integrity. They told us the what and why, but also why we DIDN'T need some things. They were prompt, hard working, and very professional. The cost was very reasonable, they should probably charge more. We had another quote that was MUCH higher for the same work. Just wonderful people.

I had an exceptional experience using Rich from Cellar to Attic. They added insulation to help fix some ice dams and also repaired about a dozen little quirks in my attic that were in need of attention. Above all, Rich was a great communicator. He was prompt to return calls, showed up on time, explained the job in very understandable terms, offered to fix only what I wanted done, offered a fair-market price, and finished in just two days. I've had several contractors over the years, and Rich was one of the best.

I highly recommend working with Rich and Cellar to Attic. We needed estimates done on some missed roof insulation. Rich took the time to explain what needed to be done. He told us where others might cut corners. He recommended what needed to be done to bring our roof insulation up to code. He spent time over the phone, explaining the value of the products and what we needed to choose for a professional job.

Rich did an excellent job, very professional, detailed and accurate in his work. Explained what was happening every day he was here, also willing to work around our schedule. Job was done promptly and he was very attentive to our home and cleaned up every day when done. I would highly recommend Cellar to Attic.

Very professional. First thing they did was thank me for giving them the job, unlike most services acting like they are doing you a favor by showing up and taking your money. Did exactly what I wanted and more. Did it when they said they would, showed up on time every time. Always answered my questions and was very respectful of my house. I would not hesitate hiring them again and recommending them to everyone.

My husband interviewed three different companies to insulate our house. Each one went through and described what they would do. Rich of Cellar to Attic, while not giving the cheapest bid, gave the most comprehensive one, and we hired him. He taught us his maxim of, "If I can't see it, I can't seal it." We did a bit of demo (which he would have happily done--we saved a bit of money doing it) following his directions. He was great to work with! Easy-going, very reasonable, conscientious about our pets. We had the house tested before and after--Rich's work almost halved the amount of air that was flowing through our house, which was more than we'd hoped! Rich does great quality work at a fair price. I can't recommend him highly enough.

Rich was incredibly thorough and sealed off every last inch of our attic. He also filled in additional insulation and created more airflow from our soffit vents. He worked extremely hard all day long and explained the science behind what he was doing in very clear language. We have noticed a difference in the 2nd floor heating of our home and we are happy with the results. Would use him again but hopefully this is not the type of thing you need to have done twice!

Rich is very focused on the details of doing a good job. He crawled all over the attic and sealed all air leaks and then installed vent chutes in the rafters. He knows his craft well and knows how to make sure that the attic is ventilated properly so there won't be condensation issues. He also noticed leaks on the garage wall that is adjacent to the house and sealed leaks there, too. He was punctual, did what his estimate said he would do, and cleaned up afterwards. I highly recommend his services.

This company is a small, very focused business. This is all they do. Rich is professional, knowledgable and reliable. The estimate provided was detailed and reasonable. Rich spent 3 days in the home. He arrived with a plan each day. He explained what he was doing and why. He took care of the home and cleaned up each day. The quality of the work was excellent. I would definitely use Cellar to Attic again and would easily recommend them.

Rich did a great job. Prior to Rich coming in the 'insulation' in our attic consisted of two layers of cardboard tacked up under a lattice. Rich removed the lattice and cardboard and sprayfoamed the roof. He then added foam board to parts of the ceiling that wil ultimately be behind a knee wall. In addition, Rich dens packed the floor towards the side of the house where he could not effectively sprayfoam due to the AC duct work. It took a while to schedule with Rich but we are very happy with the work.

They came out ahead of time to give us an estimate and that was free. They walked-through with me all the different things that they would do, what the options were, and answered some questions about that. It has only been two weeks since the service was completed but so far so good. The price was a little more than what I was expecting but not a whole lot of considering there were a couple of additional things he had to do.

We were very pleased with the work Rich performed. Rich worked extremely hard in an attic space that was very difficult to move around in (low sloped roof and crisscross trusses). We already had about 6 inches of mixed chopped fiberglass and cellulose. Another company said they could only do the air sealing work by removing all existing insulation at an additional cost of $1500. Rich said he could work around the existing insulation. While we were skeptical of this at first, we rolled the dice on a chance to save $1500. I went up and watched Rich work for a bit and while it was extremely messy work, Rich worked through it and got the job done. After the work was finished, Rich did a blower door test to verify that the air sealing was successful. Rich walked the entire house with me and we checked nearly every possible point of entry for air leakage. I spent a lot of time researching building science before we had the work done so I had a good idea of what needed to be done and what to check for. Rich clearly also knows a lot about the topic and it was fun to engage with him and talk "shop" about it. He gave a lot of pointers in terms of additional things we could to further tighten up the building envelope. Most importantly, you can tell that Rich cares about the work he is doing. As hard as the work was, he refused to cut corners. We would highly recommend Rich and Cellar to Attic.

We had to leave the house when the spray foam was done. Couldn't smell anything when we came back. Next day the attic and walls had insulation blown in. House was clean and a box was even built around the attic acess door. Excellent job. We can tell the difference already on these cool fall mornings. Would definitely recommend.

Very well. They did a good job and they are going to be doing some more work for us. I am very happy with the work they did. They did the work fairly quickly after they came out and they did what they said they would do. I think the price was reasonable compared to the others we looked at.

All went very well. I had difficulties understanding the Focus on Energy rebate aspects; they were helpful, accurate, and very patient about explaining how the FoE program works. Very thorough and knowledgeable. Worked with great hustle! Honored all provisions of the contract. Accommodated our time constraints, worked within our schedule. Project was well-scoped; on time, on track. Everything went great, very well-run. Would definitely recommend this business.

Rich was great, very professional and easy to talk to. I needed a major re-work on a leaky attic and could not ask for a better person to do it. The cost was substantial but amount of work was not trivial and it was quoted quite reasonably against other companies. I would definitely use him again.

The estimate he gave was too expensive for us at this time. I thought he'd just come out and do $500 worth of insulation but he said we'd have to pay $800 for one estimate (in addition to the $100 we already paid) or $1470 for another more involved estimate. I told him we could not afford that at this time.

Rich did a wonderful job, start to finish. He was very prompt and informative with his bid, and was easy to work with as we made decisions about what work to complete as we weighed costs and benefits. We wanted to make improvements because we'd had water damage from ice damming in a home with a refinished, but poorly insulated, attic. Our goal was to make certain we didn't face that kind of damage again. Rich is clearly very good at what he does, and a wonderful, hard working human being on top of that. It would be difficult to think of anything that could be improved. We completed this work in conjunction with an energy audit and reward program through our local utility company. The program's report estimated that we had reduced our energy use by 20%, and we got a very good reimbursement to help cover the cost of the work. The only problem is that the improvement was so good that we were targeted for an audit by the local and state-level energy programs to confirm the results! Now that almost a year has passed, and we're in the middle of the record-breaking "polar-vortex" Jan 2014 weather, we can reliably report on how the insulation has impacted our attic space. On the roof, we have only two corners that have had minor ice buildup. One of these is above the front door, where we knew the wall had a strange air gap that had proven difficult to fill (other companies who bid on the insulation job also said this would be a difficult spot). Prior to insulating, we used a space heater in the upstairs bedroom throughout the winter, as well as an electric blanket. We haven't needed the space heather at all since insulating. The room (which has NO air duct, so is not directly heated) temperature now remains in the range (without a space heater) that we used to need the space heater to accomplish -- even in the frigid temperatures we're having this January. Having Rich do this work was the best decision we made in 2013!

It was a great experience. I had estimates from several contractors suggested by Green Madison. His estimate was fair and consistent with the others. I selected Cellar to Attic because I felt Rich was direct and answered my questions clearly with suggestions as to which improvements recommended by the energy auditor would give us the best return on our costs. The actual work went very smoothly, he was punctual, very neat during the project and cleaned up thoroughly at the end of each day. Our house is much more comfortable and did very well on the post test by the energy auditor. We waited 3 months for the work to be done since he is so popular and the Green Madison program was ending with a lot of publicity. The wait may be less now. My wife and I felt it was well worth the wait considering the quality of the work.
