On Nov 23, 2015 my daughter dropped off our car and asked Murphy's shop to call me with estimate after diagnosing the problem and cost to fix.  The shop called later that day and said the noise was caused by a bad wheel bearing and cost would be $350.00 to fix. I told them to go ahead and they replaced the wheel bearing at the quoted price and the car was ready later that day.
About a week later, the noise was back and my daughter brought the car back to Murphy's on Dec 8th.  I called the shop and told them the noise returned and to take another look to find out the what was going on.  The shop called and said the noise was caused by a bad ball joint on the drivers side front wheel.  I questioned why this was not found the first time and whether the wheel bearing  that was replaced previously really needed to be replaced since the noise had returned.  The mechanic gave some explanation that was less than satisfying to me, but I told him to proceed with the ball joint repair.  The mechanic said he would need to order the part and that my daughter would have to bring the car back the next day.  The ball joint replacement would cost another $340.00 with a likely needed front end alignment.  My daughter picked up the car and while she was driving it home, the driver's side front wheel collapsed and the car came to a screeching halt.  We had to have the car towed back to Murphy's and send someone to pick up my daughter.
I called Murphy's the next morning and talked to the owner.  I was very upset, first because my daughter could have had a serious accident (thankfully she was on a 25 mph road when the wheel collapsed).  Secondly, now the car may have incurred additional damage due to the wheel collapsing while being driven.  Third, my confidence in the mechanics was at a level zero at this point after they had just examined the very wheel that would collapse only a few miles down the road from their shop.  The owner sounded sympathetic about my concerns and said he would call me after completing work to repair the car.
The owner called me later that afternoon and said the repair was complete, the ball joint was replaced and front end alignment done, additionally there were some other assemblies (axle, caliper) that needed to be adjusted.  I suggested the additional work was likely because of the wheel collapsing while car was moving... he agreed with me.  He billed me $360.00 and said this was after giving me a break on the total labor that was put into the repair.  To be honest, all things considered, I thought this second bill should have been significantly discounted.

I have had Mark and the guys work on all my cars for years. They are very proffessional. This last time I knew that all the repairs would not be done in one day but could not believe how quickly they got everything done even after having to special order the 3rd brake light located in the back window. I can not say enough about this repair shop but the main thing that stands out is their honesty and integrity.

I am going in a couple days from now to have him and his welder take a look at the rust to determine how much labor this repair will take. He was very up front about how these type of repairs can get expensive in a hurry, depending on the structural integrity of the metal around the hole. I am looking forward to returning to his shop, he wants everyone to be on the same page.

I am NOT easy to please but have been going to Murphy's for years. Very honest people. Great value for the dollar.
Had a loud wheel bearing so I said fix it and might as well do the other. They said NO, not needed.
can't say good things about there service. It is very hard to find a good, honest auto repair shop. I can't say enough good about them
