Hillside Animal Hospital

Veterinarians,

About us

Founded in 1974 by Dr. Robert Spencer, Hillside Animal Hospital is dedicated to the goal of providing our clients’ pets with the latest advances in veterinary medicine and treating our clients with the utmost respect and kindness. Since our first days, the hospital has grown from a staff of one veterinary assistant/receptionist to include four veterinarians, three fulltime board certified veterinary technicians, two full-time and two part-time receptionists, three fulltime veterinary assistants, four part-time veterinary assistants, a practice manager and an IT support manager. Growth has also required that the original hospital be remodeled with small additions twice and a major addition in 2000, which doubled the number of examination rooms and increased the size of our lab, treatment rooms and surgical suite. These improvements, cutting edge medical resources and expertise of our medical staff mean that many outlying practices refer patients to us for second opinions and in cases requiring intensive treatment or complex surgeries. We also are sought out by area clients seeking the best care for their pets in a facility that is warm and welcoming. We truly value the trust and continued relationships we have had with our clients and work to ensure that they feel valued with each and every visit.

The vet had my dog on his leash and he chewed all of the way through it.  Not sure how that happened while he was in the back room during the procedure, but they gave me a similar used leash to compensate me.  Months later, however, I recalled that the vet mentioned that I should get my dog licensed after he was nuetered.  This subject came up early in January of 2015 when I adopted him and was in for his initial wellness check.  The vet advised that if I waited to license him until after nuetering it will cost $10 less with the city.  The subject was never mentioned again.  So, in December of 2015 I luckily recalled what the vet said and realized I needed to get the license for my dog.  I was charged a late fee of $25.00 for waiting until then.  I know I am at fault as I kept forgetting to go to City Hall or to inquire about a deadline.  My complaint is that the likely most expensive vet in town has no system to prevent its patients from being late with city dog licensing.  Had I completely forgotten to license my pet last year, I found out the city would have sent a $245.00 ticket in the mail without warning.  The vet reported my pet to the city because the city was already aware of my pet ownership when I licensed him there.  This vet really did very little to help me avoid the late fee and possible enormous fine.  At their prices they should be more proactive in this area of pet ownership by providing email reminders or post cards of licensing deadlines.

It went fantastic. They have qualified competent vets with great dispositions. They even give discounts to people who's spouses are deployed over seas.
