Auto Sales
$467
I bought my car at City Auto sales, as stated in the contract, the limited warranty was that all auto repairs will be done by City Auto sales; the term one month or 1000 miles whichever one comes first. Prior to buying the car, there were two main issues, the crack in the windshield and the ?check engine? light. Ben Zimmer the auto sales representative said that the car would be fixed no problem. ?It?s a small fix, it can be done, it?s no problem? the mechanic who was there, Keith shook his head and said that it?s no problem. I bought the car with the benefit of the doubt that they would fix it and that they?re wouldn?t be any issues. Ben seemed like a nice guy, we shared some nice conversations about travel and education, he was knowledgeable and I felt like I was meeting a fair and just salesperson. I took my car in on July 3, 2013 to get the ?check engine? light fixed, I gave Ben a call and he said to just drop it off there; he also told me to make a list of issues that needed to be checked or fixed. I gave him a list, the windshield was cracked and needed to be fixed, the back light wasn?t working and needed to be replaced, the ?check engine? light and after driving I noticed the car was doing something called ?lurching?, an issue I wasn?t aware of or told by Ben until I mentioned that the car was acting weird. Ben met me at the shop because no one was there yet, I was very pleased and felt comfortable that he would come and make sure everything would be ok. He assured me and my father that the problem would be taken care of. My father who is also a mechanic told Ben that the issue with the ?check engine? is possibly due to the O2 sensor. Ben said he would give the list to the mechanic and express our concerns. Since I dropped my car off on July 3rd and on the 4th no one would be working, Ben informed me to pick up the car on Friday July 5, 2013. When I picked up the car, the light in the back was fixed, the windshield was also fixed, the A-1 representative actually came out to my house and fixed it, which was very nice and convenient. Ben explained that the lurching is something that happens in the 2003 Honda Civic Hybrids and Honda never did a recall. The check engine light was still on.. two weeks later I call them again and ask why they didn?t fix it, Ben didn?t know and said that I should talk to the mechanics. I understand that the sales rep and the mechanics all have different roles but at this point, Ben was acting very distant and didn?t respond to my phone calls or concerns. I brought my car back to them to fix, my father told them it was the O2 sensor and asked if they knew that, and they said they did and he told them to not just clean it but to replace it. I was feeling better and I thought ?ok, good.. finally they?re replace it?--THEY DIDN?T, THEY DID THE SAME THING!
I finally drove over to the garage and talked to Brent Kirchner who is the owner of the place but for some reason didn?t know anything that was going on, He couldn?t answer why his mechanic had done the same procedure twice without any solution. He couldn?t answer why he didn?t have a receipt, he also told me to ?not get smart? with him, with that? I answered that I had to, because the first two times I was so naive and I gave them the benefit of the doubt that they were actually good people. I was so upset and then realizing my frustration, he  told me that he would personally do the fixing. That afternoon he called and said that it wasn?t in his budget to fix it and it was going to cost around 500.00, he wanted me to pay half? What I don?t understand is, how come they didn?t properly diagnose the problem the first OR second time around?
He gave me two options either I pay half or he?ll return my money. I opted for just getting my money back, then he said.. they don?t give back title or registration. I called the DMV and long story short I got my money back.
NEVER EVER DEAL with these people, they are crooks at their best game.
