Even though it was a Saturday night, I explained the situation to Warren and he said that he would adjust his schedule and come right over. He was very professional on the phone and also in person. He has been doing plumbing for 30 years and he was very knowledgeable.
He had given me a fixed rate over the phone, which I liked, and it was very reasonable for an emergency call on a weekend. When he discovered that he actually had to remove the toilet in order to get the pipes unclogged he told me that normally he does not have to do that in a basement but it was the only way to fix the problem. Because of that extra labor he explained that he would have to charge me more than his original quote and because he explained it so well it made perfect sense to me. It was kind of like going in for an oil change with your car and the mechanic shows you that you have a nail in your tire.... I wouldn't expect him to fix that for free either....
Bottom line is that finding a good plumber without a referral is a little scary. I called Warren based on what a few other customers had said about him. I was very thankful to learn that it was all true. He was professional, he fixed the problem and he charged a fair price. The best testimony is that if I need another plumber, Warren's number is now programmed in my phone!
