They very prompt, very good, very quick and they did a good job. They ground out some stumps and trees for us, and they cleaned everything up so we don't have to do anything. Everything was very nice.

I have been with First Tree Choice for a number of years. I was attracted to them because they have a university trained arborist on the team. He has been the first to come to the house to assess the situation, and I like that. When we first bought our home in Forest Park, we had woods in the back galore. I hired First Tree Choice to assess it and we came up with a plan to clear a lot of iseased trees and smaller trees that had no chance of surviving very long. WE stretched out the work over a several year period to help me with my cash flow. Frankly, they turned our back yard into a park-like atmosphere, just a wonderful job. Since then we have had diseased trees in the front which I hated to see go, but they had to go or they would endanger the roof, so they took them down. I have had both good and bad experiences with many Wausau-ased companies, and I rate First Tree Choice as among the very best, the most reliable, the most honest, and fair. In the case of this company, with the arborist, they are also scientific instead of just wagging it. This last visit, they charged me nothing for the inspection, but gave me good advice. I would go to no other company in the area for my tree issues. These people are top of the line.

They are very knowledgeable. They are registered. They are personal and work well. They do beautiful trimming of the trees. The chemicals they use works very well. They do fertilization and root repair. The people are very friendly. They are very expensive.

They showed up quick (considering there was a lot of storm damage in the area) and the job was completed in less than two days. The EMPLOYEES did great work, were courteous and worked hard. After the job was done, I recieved a phone call from the OWNER of the company, indicating that the cost for the job would be significantly higher than he quoted! After the job was done! They didn't even have to haul away the big chunks of tree trunk, as was quoted in the original quote, due to the neighbor taking the wood! If anything, the job should have cost LESS! The chipper machine they have is huge, so it chipped up all the branches (even big branches that were 6"-10" in diameter!) so there was no cutting up of branches into smaller pieces, which would have taken a lot of time (I know...I own woods and have cut up trees myself). Their reasoning behind the large increase in price was that the city hadn't come and cleaned/cut up the portion of the tree that was laying in the street. This fact/stipulation wasn't mentioned in prior phone calls, before they got hired and wasn't written in the quote. We were taking quite a few bids for this job, from other companies and there were several estimators on the site, all at the same time. One of them mentioned this when they called me back for their quote for the job and ALL the other companies were $200-$300 higher for the same job! First Choice underbid EVERYBODY by a big dollar amount. That's why they got the job. My suspicion is that one of the other companies found out they were significantly underbid and actually called First Choice and questioned them as to why they were underbidding everybody. This probably made the owner realize he thought he could and should be charging more for jobs like this so he tried to charge us more....AFTER he had gotten the job! It's called "undercutting" or "cutting the knees out" and it'd done by companies who are trying to monopolize the industry and then they raise their rates...It upset us and we won't use them or recommend them again, due to this. Again....the EMPLOYEES did great work, were friendly and courteous but the OWNER tried to pull a fast one....NOT cool!
