Parkside Auto & Truck Sale

I purchased a 2002 VW Cambrio, with 95000 miles, from this dealership. I noticed shortly after purchase, a number of safety issues such as defective headlights, misaligned headlights, burned out turn signal lights. The owner agreed to fix these after sale and did so without any problems. After a day or so I discovered the windshield wiper switch did not properly function. This too was fixed, but after a good deal of monkeying around. They did not have the correct repair manual and did not trouble shoot the problem properly. Instead, they substituted parts until they found one that seemed to work. After I took it off the lot, the wipers again malfunctioned and required further repair. I also noticed that the parking brake did not function properly. Finally, after about a week, they ordered in a new part, the switch and wiper lever, and replaced it. This corrected the wiper problem. The parking brake was promptly fixed. I do not think they know much about electrical circuits. Nevertheless, they honored their obligations. This dealer ship sells used, often high mileage, vehicles. Their prices generally compare to Blue Book and NADA pricing. Their waranty calls for a 50% of cost payment by the purchaser. However, as the repairs I sought had been represented as being ok, and were safety items, they fixed them without objection. This was my second purchase from this dealer. BOTTOM LINE: Check the car thoroughly, and patiently, but firmly, insist they correct any defects. Dont let them weasel out and dont go to another mechanic. Insist the defects are corrected to your satisfaction. You can get a good deal here if you're careful. Would I purchase here again? Yes, but with my eyes wide open.
