Auto Service
Went to this Jiffy Lube on recommendation of a friend. Not quality work or timely. Being someone who has worked on cars for over 40 years, I'm knowledgeable on vehicle service and repairs. Only two other vehicle were in for service in a 3 vehicle facility. The "20 minute service" took almost an hour. After servicing my vehicle, I was told that by battery was bad and should have it replaced. When I replied that the vehicle was only 2 years old and had 17,000 miles on it, I was told that "maybe you should take it to the dealer". Most battery's last over 3 years, even in Arizona and Florida. I was then told that I would need to have the transfer case and front axle unit serviced at the next oil change, 5000 miles later or when the vehicle would have 22,000 miles on it. According to the owners manual such service is not required until 30,000 to 35,000 miles. The vehicle never has been in 4wd or severe conditions, I bought it new. When I got home I parked it in the garage. Later I saw a oil spot on the floor. Prior to this, my vehicle never left an oil spot on the garage. Knowing that sometimes a vehicle that has been serviced will leave a oil spot, I didn't think much of it. About a week later I drove it on a 1,000 trip. Upon returning and a few days later I noticed a larger oil spot in the garage under my vehicle, which I cleaned up. I looked under my vehicle and couldn't see where it came from. A few days later, another oil spot. Crawling under the vehicle I found oil dripping from the transfer case. I looked and could not see where the oil came from. I cleaned it off and then checked the oil level and found it at the proper level. I don't know if Jiffy Lube had over filled the transfer case, or what they had done. If it had been over filled, it could of "blown" a oil seal, may cost $$$, so I'm keeping a close eye on it.
