Hsh Property Inspection

TL;DR: Mixed results. When reaching back out to HSH about an issue, they claimed they went above and beyond Wisconsin State Standard of Practices, which I highly disagree that they did. Also, the WI Standard of Practices is a low bar to live up to. I have had HSH Property Inspection inspect two homes that I was interested in buying. My first experience with Matt was great. He was very thorough, and even though the fees are steep, it was worth every penny. He spent the entire 2 hours allotted to him and was still at work even when I showed up for the walkthrough. The second time I had HSH come out to a condo I was interested, I had quite the opposite experience. The inspector was done inspecting the condo within 45 minutes and texted me asking where I was. I was thinking, wow, that was quick, but HSH does a great job, so I'm sure they're just efficient. After moving in, I can see how quickly things were glossed over. The biggest thing I had an issue with was "water damage" in a bathroom ceiling. You could see paint falling off, but I was told, "you just need to scrape it off and put a new coat of paint on it" since it looked like an older issue and it was still dry. A few months later, when I finally moved in, I went to fix the paint. As I stepped up onto the step stool, I saw a HOLE in my ceiling before even touching the paint! Instead of getting up to inspect one of the only issues in the condo thoroughly, a picture from the floor was taken making it look like just a paint issue when in reality there was a 3 inch hole in the ceiling. When reaching back out to HSH about this issue, they claimed they went above and beyond Wisconsin State Standard of Practices, which I highly disagree that they did. It is clear that you will get mixed results with HSH. Expect the minimum Wisconsin State Standard of Practices and pray for better.

The gentleman that came out to do the inspection was wonderful. He was very knowledgeable, and used up to date technology such as drones to give us a great view of our home. After the inspection we received a lengthy detailed inspection summary with pictures! We were very impressed.

Matt was referred to us by our real estate agent and I am so happy he was! Very thorough inspection, friendly, great communicator. He explained things in an easy to understand manner and made sure to emphasize the important points by reviewing them than more than once. Gave good advice when asked his opinion on issues in the home. His final report and video are fantastic. His website is very user friendly with a lot of useful information. I was impressed with his outstanding customer service skills. He even referred me to a great contractor for work I needed done on my current home in order to satisfy my buyer. Would definitely recommend and use again.

Matt was great. He was very thorough, reasonable, and the report we received was fantastic. Our realtor said he uses Matt whenever he can, and I can see why.

Provider spent two hours alone at the house we are in the process of buying, thoroughly inspecting every system, nook and cranny, then spent two hours with us and our realtor going over his findings and answering questions.  He emailed an extremely thorough and detailed report the night of the inspection, and has been available by phone, without charge, to answer additional questions, give referrals to vetted tradespeople in the area, and also has a list of tradespeople with whom his clients have had bad experiences.
