We were hoping for a cheap and easy fix for a few rotten boards on our porch. Eric came in the lowest of 3 bids and was going to be able to start work the soonest. The plan was for him to remove and replace the existing decking, skirt and handrails. He also did some minor siding repairs to the house and garage. After he had removed the rotting boards, he discovered that the whole porch needed to be replaced and that it hadn't been built properly to start out with. He called us right away so we could see what the problem was and make a decision. He then removed the frame and then installed new posts, frame, decking, stringers and stairs as well as railings. He did his best to get the work done quickly, even though it was a much larger job than planned on. The only difficult part was not quite knowing when he was coming each day, but that was due to the project being more extensive than he had scheduled for. We are very pleased with the finished product. UPDATE: After we had a failed inspection we learned that Eric had never pulled a permit and is not licensed in Milwaukee. The handrail was also not built to code. My husband fixed the handrail and we are working to get a permit. Eric's only response was that we should try to find a friend who's a licensed contractor to pull it for us. This has turned into a nightmare.
