Don's Economy Stump Removal

Completed the work on time and satisfactorily

I called Don and got an estimate based on the size of the stumps that I had measured in my yard. Don did a great job of being accurate with his estimate as it matched what I was billed for in my mail box after the work was done. It took a little longer than estimated for them to get to my job, but their work is weather-dependent so that is totally fine. They were prompt in completing the work, but did a thorough job and really ground up the stumps deep so there is nothing left but wood chips. This is even true of my widest stump which was 4 feet in diameter!

Easy and simple. Called to have stumps ground. He couldn't get to us right away which was not an issue. He ended up showing up while were on vacation. Did the job and left an invoice. Stumps were ground up and the area where they were was raked out nicely. Would call again without even thinking about it.

Very responsive!  I was planting a tree on a Friday afternoon in the vicinity of a tree previously removed earlier this year.  I encountered several very large lateral roots where I wanted the new tree to be planted and needed these ground out (ideally before the weekend so the new tree would not sit out of the ground over the weekend).  Don was in my area the day I called and arrived within a 1/2 hour of my call!  He was able to clear about a six foot diameter area for the tree to be planted with no remaining obstructions.  Also ground out another stump along with its lateral root system.  Thanks!

My only knock would be that they did not call ahead before showing up to do the work.  Otherwise everything was dne to my satisfaction.

For the cost you can't do better than this guy, plus he really does a nice job.  I'll use him again if I need to but I think we've taken care of all the stumps on the property at this point.

I was given a bid over the phone and he guessed about $40 per stump/root system. However when the gentlemen came they had a big machine that they were able to remove the 7 root systems very easily and quickly. The price ended up being about half of what they had quoted me. I was very pleased with their service and will definitely call them if I need their services again.

job went fine. it was difficult getting it scheduled as they were working on a rain delay (lots of rain in WI in june)....so mud was ruining their machines. 
once it was fine to grind, they came, ground it down. left a bill. easy peasy. i would hire them again.

Returned my call for estimate request on the same day my message was left. I was told that weather-dependent he would come out within about one week to a week and a half from the day I spoke with him. We didn't gave to be home. He charged within the approximate quite over the phone. The bill was left at our door as promised. Not only did I find him on Angie's List but he came highly recommended by 2 neighbors.

They did a good job.  It took awhile to get them here but I know weather was a factor.  Once we spoke again he got me in the next week.

Total time was probably 15 minutes.  They also carefully placed limbs on our parkway for village pickup.

The service was excellent. They did an excellent job! They were punctual. They had a great value for the price.

For the price, I'd might use them again.  They're cheap.
However, I did have some complaints.  

• * I was quoted "under $100" over the phone after precisely measuring our stumps.  Our bill was $116.
• * They do not rake the disturbed ground back into the hole the way other similarly priced outfits do.
• * We were told they'd call a day or two ahead of time (because inclement weather can throw off their schedule), but they did not call.  Rather, they showed up unexpected when nobody was home.
• * They did not call diggers hotline.  I know for certain they were grinding within inches of our house gas line.  It's scary to think what we could have come home to.
• * I had agreed over the phone to place their sign in my yard IF I was 100% satisfied with the work.  They put up their sign before I even saw their work.
• * They were to go to a second property to grind stumps there, but since nobody was here to tell them where to go, they couldn't.

Aside from the diggers hotline problem, I could have lived with all of the other issues if I'd known how they work.  The stumps are gone, and I didn't pay too much.  Don's is a perfect example of you get what you pay for.

It went fine, two young guys came out and did the grinding. The only thing that we weren't prepared for was the price of one larger tree stump it ended up costing $80 to do just one and I knew it was going to be more expensive but not that much based on the pricing he gave me over the phone. They were efficient and completed with in 10 minutes. I would hire them again.

Don did a good job, I called Thurs night and he was able to fit me in Fri morning. He gave me a quote and completed the job right away. He seemed like an up front guy, from the answering message on his phone, stating he worked all day and made his phone calls at night, to what needed to be done to make the job look right. I gave him a B on price simply because he was the only one I called, the neighbor's job turned out well so I was confident in his work, and wanted the job done before the weekend.

It took while for him to come after the initial call. I had to follow up 3 times. He came a few days later after my last call. They did put a sign in our yard for advertising. He said that he will take care of the other stump that we forgot tell them about when he would pick up the sign in a couple of weeks. That was 3 weeks ago and we haven’t heard back from them. It was reasonable and the work was quick. It was the response time to get them here was not a good service. They were polite when they came. I would probably not use them again in future.

Don's stump service arrived on time and completed the work in about 1-2 hours. The estimate for the project was in fact what we paid. The shavings from the stump were left in a tidy pile when the work was completed.
