I took my 1996 GMC 3/4 ton 4x4 Suburban in for front brake work and possible hub assembly problems. Vehicle is used for plowing. Mechanic confirmed that front discs and rotors were ready for work. Calipers were replaced, one rotor replaced, one was turned and re-used. L/F hub assembly was indeed bad, as was the L/F axle CV shaft. Mechanic called to verify as each bad item was discovered, seeking permission before proceeding. All old parts were retained for me to inspect. I have enough automotive knowledge to recognize that all of it was exactly as described and all work was absolutely necessary. During oil service, he found that the zerk (grease) fittings were corroded shut and they were replaced. Jerry is the owner and sole mechanic in this small town one man shop. Very experienced and very good, but he also knows his own limitations. If he can't fix it, or if it will cost more with him than with another shop, he will tell you up front. Some jobs can be done right away, others may take a few days. he will tell you up front. I will gladly take future service work to Jerry and would recommend him to my neighbors.
