Auto Painting
Yes, I recommend this pro
My car has a few rust spots on the frame just beneath the doors on either side.  As I live in an area where the streets are heavily salted in the winter, this has progressed from a few small spots to palm-sized area.  I stopped in Sherwin-Williams to ask what I could do, if just that area could be fixed or if the whole car would have to be repainted.  Another area auto service shop had told me these parts, called rocker panels, would have to be cut out and new ones welded in before repainting at a cost of..... $6000!
The clerk behind the counted that day understood my questions immediately.  He said there were a number of options, depending on how much money I wanted to spend.  He steered me to a display of auto products and said they could be used to arrest the progress of the rust, cover and seal it, and prepare the surface for repainting.  He showed me, by pointing to the written directions, that it could all be done in my own garage, with a little patience and a little caution about inhaling fumes.  This, he told me, would not look like a professional finish, but if what I wanted was to stop it getting worse these products could to it.
Then we went to the counter where he gave me the names and numbers of several area auto service businesses, pointing to one in particular.  He said this particular shop bought all their finishes from Sherwin-Williams so he flet he could vouch for their quality work.  He said I could probably get this done for far less if the existing parts were cleaned, rustproofed and primed.  This plus a repainting would  be cosmetically appealing and probably costing less than half of that original estimate.
The store staff took time to explain the options to me, to show me their products and describe what each one does.  Their manner was thoroughly professional and I was impressed by the depth of their knowledge.  They said these rocker panels are a weak point in many cars, and those part and usually made of fiberglass in newer cars, to avoid exactly the problem I've been having.  Yes, I would return to Sherwin-Williams and trust their advice.
