S&S Design Build

The remodeling project went great - better than we thought since the kitchen is the hub of the home. S&S made it possible to still use our old kitchen sink as long as possible until the new one was installed later in the process. The only delay was installation of the backsplash when more tile was needed. Other than that, kitchen was finished before Thanksgiving as promised without cutting corners and maintaining quality of workmanship.

Both jobs went very well, 3 weeks bathroom, 6 weeks kitchen. All work well done to specifications. Very satisfied. Worked with condo restrictions and rules. Condo board was impressed with professionalism. All permits obtained. 3 years after bathroom work was done I had a problem with the tub faucet. It was replaced under warranty at no cost to me. It's easy to be satisfied initially, but when you know the work is backed up you have a trustworthy builder.

They were excellent with communication and letting me know what was going to happen when and what the timeline of my project was. They were professional, yet made me feel like family. Did an excellent job. My bathroom looks amazing. I would recommend them for a small or large project and will use them again for future needs.

It didn't go so well. They caused water to come into my kitchen. They doubled the size of my walk in closet and then asked for an additional $10,000. We were thinking why did it work like that? They gave us a change order. They took advantage of us. It was horrible. We hired an engineer under their nose to check the work without them knowing and they weren't putting in the correct amount of trellises was the first thing the engineer said. The engineer said you need to get them in here and straighten this out. The engineer said this thing is going to fall off the back of your house. It was awful.

We were very happy with all items completed. I know they had other jobs during my job and also they could not complete all tasks at once because of dry times and waiting for other things to be completed. In addition, Addie had suggestions that would save money, helped in other areas not involved with his work and provided tips on various projects. I would have them back on future projects.

Addy and his crew did a great job; they worked quickly and efficiently. The only delays were waiting for the electrician. They did an excellent job, quality workmanship and good attention to detail.

Mr Silverthorn was friendly and professional in giving estimate, and went above and beyond expectations to sell the job. He provided drawings, made multiple visits and gave lots of advice. After two months of busy, very efficient work, soon the project starting going rapidly downhill. It became clear as the project progressed, that Silverthorn Construction was either overbooked with work, or simply neglecting our project, or both. On most days, no work occurred at all. When work did occur, it was in spurts of 3-4 hours at a time, and never more than one subcontractor group was present at the same time. There were weeks when NO ONE showed up to the work site. Worse, Mr Silverthorn never kept adequate financial records, so upcharges, lien waivers & credits were often incorrect or (conveniently) forgotten. It started out well, and ended in a nightmare. We hired another contractor to finish the job, whose efficient work shined a bright light on the inadequacies of Silverthorn Construction.
