Overall it went pretty good. it is a team of 2 guys and they are really down to earth and easy to talk to. We originally were going to have a metal roof installed but they offered a lifetime warranty on the best asphalt shingle you can buy and it was half the price of the metal roof. I had priced out stone coated metal roofs (looks like shingles but is actually metal) their bid came in at $14,000, Hager's bid for metal roof came in @ $12,000 and for the lifetime warranty asphalt came in at $6,400. The end result of the project came out at closer to $8000 because once they started tearing shingles off they found out over half off the sub roof was rotten and needed to be replaced and re-insulated. They did good work, the roof does not leak, however it is an old 1918 farmhouse... they told us that the roof had rotted out because there was NO ventilation, they installed proper heat vents and said the house shouldn't have such bad ice build up. Well this is the first winter we have lived in this house, Im not sure what the ice build up looked like before but we have a huge ice dam that has built up again, and icicles. Do I feel that they did a bad job? no, I just think that the house is so old and has been neglected for a few too many years and now we are picking up the pieces. They did get a little frustrated with our project because everyday they were here it seemed like they found something else that had to be fixed...they were also working through some of the hottest days of the summer up on our roof, installing dark brown shingles. We could tell that they were ready to be done with our house when they left, they left some of the gutters hanging on the side of the house, and overall they did a good job cleaning, but they just left our scrap wood and shingles laying in the yard (me being pregnant and my husband working all the time...it would have been nice if they had offered to put things away or in a shed for me, instead of just heaped around the yard). I think I will hire them again, they did good work and they had a good price, I also like supporting local contractors. I do think that Im going to shop around a bit for my next projects just to see what other local contractors will offer first.
