piano tuning
 + -1 moreMike did an excellent job of taking my oldish piano into a playable instrument with his fine tuning and repair skills. Although he was at my house for hours, the total charge was less than $150! He was super sweet too and provided lots of information, not only how to care for my particular piano, but the history of pianos as well.
Description of Work: Mike tuned my piano, but made adjustments and repairs as needed.

piano tuning
 + -1 moreMy experience working with Mike was great. To bring my piano up to ''new'' standards would cost something like $5000, which I was not prepared to do at this time. He was very understanding and worked with me to bring my piano up to tunable/playable standards within my price range. He was easy to reach and good about communication. He patiently explained all he did, and even told me some of the history behind my piano. He gave me a clear invoice for what he would do (even though I don't have it with me as I type this now), and everything went very smoothly if you ignore my scheduling issues about which he was very accommodating. To make a long story short, I highly recommend him and will use him again.
Description of Work: He had to do a lot of work on an old upright piano that had not been tuned or even played in probably 20 years. I can't remember all he did, but some of it included fixing broken hammers, a broken peddle, resurfacing hammers, and raising the level of the keys to accommodate the plastic that replaced the original ivory surface. That was all before he could begin the tuning. His price for tuning was very reasonable (I think something like $80). He had to take the mechanical inside of the piano home to work on, then brought it back to my house for the final bit. Like I said, he did a ton of work.
