Milwaukee Eye Care Associates were fine, no problem. They were good.
They said it is going to take like three hours, but it didn't. It took like no time at all. I went there and I got in right away. If it took an hour that was a lot. They explained everything to you and they were very thorough. There was nothing fantastic about them, but I would go again.
Dr. Lind really thinks about the questions I ask and is very thorough. I will use her in the future.
Milwaukee Eye Care is very efficient and the staff is easy going. They are casual professional which I like. I will use them again.
Manner throughout is very pompous and unfriendly. Instructions to participate in the exam were barked like orders by both tech and OD. In doing the and quot;is #1 or #2 better?and quot;, when I said and quot;about the sameand quot;, the OD said literally: NO, I asked which is BETTER, #1 or #2? Her advice is offered in the form of authoritarian pronouncements followed by a list of horribles, eye conditions and quot;and blindnessand quot;! that she sees and quot;all the timeand quot;. While the science of her observations was useful, she clearly was not interested in my question about it, spent 2 sentences on it, didn't ask if I understood it, and returned to her recitation of bad results. When asked how often such results actually occur, she was dismissive and when I observed that she seemed to wish to scare her patients, she said this was and quot;because she wants her patients to be informedand quot;.
The array of photos of eye conditions and diseases on her large open laptop (screensaver? :)) was certainly unpleasant to review while waiting, as was the graphic poster of eyes disassembled to illustrate their parts.
In ten + years as a patient, MKE Eye Care Associates has been a widely variable experience. For all the helpful encounters, there's a list of inexcusable, unacknowledged incidents, including
1) Trying to order lenses 3X, only to be told when I call for them that my faxed prescription never arrived (scrip was from former provider), so they refiled my chart. Third time I said and quot;I am faxing while I am on the phone with youand quot; and the technician did it again! In my follow-up call, apparently I was cut off by a monitoring service who told her to call me, make it right. They mailed the lenses but NEVER acknowledgement or apology. (This cannot be discounted as a subcontractor's bad behavior, they manage this aspect and presumably profit from it.)
2) Long unaccounted for waits -- sometimes over an hour! No estimates provided about how long it will be, no explanation of why. My husband bailed after one such visit.
3) The strangest bedside manners I've encountered. Tried this new OD because the prior one was so stiff and glum I didn't want to see him even every couple of years.
Something is really off about this organization, and I hope very few people experience it.
"We sincerely appreciate your comments and are sorry about your recent experience with our practice. Our goal is always to meet our patient's expectations. While Milwaukee Eye Care holds itself to the highest standard, there is always room for improvement. This is an excellent opportunity for us to use feedback to do so. Please feel free to call us at 414-271-2020 and speak to our administrator about your concerns."
He is very friendly and very knowledgeable.
My father sees him also. He is 88, has glaucoma, detached retina, can't hear and has dementia. He is wonderful with him, and my father isn't always easy to work with.
