Schmitz Door Service

Wow! We got home from vacation and discovered one of our garage door springs was broken. Reached out to Schmitz's Door Service first thing in the morning via Facebook Messenger and heard back within a half hour on their ballpark pricing, warranty info, and their availability to come out same day. Workers were professional, friendly and work was completed in about 30 minutes. Definitely would recommend and use again!

Called and left a message. Voice mail message said to email for faster response. Emailed and heard back in minutes. They fit me in after their next job that day. Very pleased with the work and responsiveness.

Excellent work. The company had one job that was running over, and they needed to delay my project a bit. They called me the night before, which is why I gave a B, but it is definitely better than no notice at all, and in many cases, wouldn't be able to be foreseen until the night before. They also apologized with a reduction in the install price. The install was great, the door looks beautiful, the keypad works perfectly, and their team was professional.

I put in calls to two of the bigger guys. One only comes to Madison once a week and one took their time calling back despite claiming to be a 24 service. Our cars were trapped in our garage. Luckily, it was a Saturday morning so we were not completely desperate. I called Schmitz Door Service because their address was close by. I called about 9:30 and Bob answered the phone. I explained our situation and he said he could be here in the afternoon. He called back an hour later and said he could be here at 11 if that worked for us. He was prompt and friendly. He got our garage opened and replaced the spring and took his time oiling our very noisy door. The garage door is much quieter now. The price was cheaper than the other's "special." I would not hesitate to use him again .

The service was excellent.  I had contacted another company that had done work for us before but they were unable to come.  I was very concerned about having it fixed right away because of the extremely cold weather.  I called Angie's List and they gave me Schmitz's number and rating.  They were there within an hour!  I would definitely recommend them to anyone in the Madison area.

Called in the morning. Accommodated us the same day. Prompt, friendly, professional. Went right to work. Very reasonable cost. Garage door runs more smoothly than ever. Will definitely call him again in the future. We would recommend him to anyone with a garage door problem.

Great service/on time. There is some rust at the bottom of the door that caused the damage, but rather than trying to force a new door on me, Schmitz was able to repair the old door good as new!

The service was great! I called SCHMITZ DOOR SERVICE 7:30 in the mooring and Bob came over in early afternoon. The broken spring was replaced within 20 minutes. He also took sometime to adjust garage door chain's tension. It is running a lot quieter than before.

Our garage door spring busted around 6 p.m. on a Thursday. We called Schmitz right away and were able to set up a 1–4 p.m. time frame for a service call the next day. Bob, the owner, came over around 3 and had the spring fixed in about a half an hour, then went about oiling, adjusting, checking and double checking the entire system and even gave us advice on how to keep our garage door opener light bulbs from burning out so fast (make sure they're really screwed in tight!). We were glad he didn't mind us hanging out in the garage asking questions. Bob is professional, courteous and just plain pleasant to be around. This is my first Angie's List review. I've had opportunities to write reviews before, but never felt so impelled to take the time until now. Thanks, Bob!

Other than arriving a bit early (better than late) and an initial miscalculation of the door weight, Andy did a great job removing the old torsion bar system and installing the new spring system. He was done in a little over an hour, left the area like he found it, and told me about the other items he checked and completed (see above). He also advised me how to best lubricate the door axles (motor oil) and hinges (WD40).
I had made calls yesterday afternoon to four service providers that were local and listed as and quot;Aand quot; here on Angie's List. Bob was very helpful as we discussed my particular situation. While he was not the lowest (nor the highest) in price I was left with a positive sense of concern and professionalism. The company that provided the lowest estimate (~$50 less) left me with a sort of sour taste as a potential customer. A second call to Bob and I had the service set up for today (next day service - wonderful!).
I would certainly recommend Schmitz Door Service for garage door repair work.

Tried to open the garage door on the way to an appointment just to find that it wouldn't open because one of the torsion springs had broken overnight. I quick search on Angie's list and picked Schmitz Door Service as a locally owned business with a very good rating and gave them a call. I quickly got an appointment schedueled for the next morning. Bob Schmitz called before he arrived and let me know he was on his way about 20 minutes before he got here. After a quick assessment he determined that the fix was very simple. I had been expecting to replace the torsion spring at an estimated cost of $168.00 parts and labor. I was pleasantly surprised when the reattached the spring that I had and told me I didn't need a new sprint. It only took about 10 minutes of effort and he only charged me $20. It is wonderful to have such service and honesty when I was fully ready to pay the whole estimate.

I have an old detached garage that only has 2 access points: The garage door itself, and a small window. When the door's locking mechanism seemed to fail, I had almost resigned myself to trying to crawl in to fix the door myself. Luckily, I called Bob instead! He answered my call right away, accommodated my work schedule to meet me, and gave me a courtesy call to let me know when he was on his way. When he got to my house, he was friendly and professional. As it turns out, the door wasn't broken after all. It was just completely frozen! Bob had good humor about the whole thing, put a little elbow grease into it, and had me in the garage in a few minutes. Not only did he not make me feel ridiculous for calling him out there, but he was MORE than generous with his fee. He really made my day!

One of the torsion springs on the garage door broke just after the New Year. Our door still functioned, so it wasn't urgent. We called Schmitz Door Service, and they were able to come and replace both springs within a couple of days. They oiled up the chain as well, and the door works like new.

My garage door did not work yesterday, no doubt due to the age of the door and the frigid temperatures. The company gave me a time frame of 4 hrs and the owner/technician arrived around an hour into that time. He was very friendly and fixed the spring on the door quickly. He also made the door open and close much more quietly than it had. Overall an excellent experience.

The estimate was very timely after I called them, the removal and installation were done very professionally. Mr. Schmitz and his son, Justin are very personable to talk to and there aren't any dumb questions according to them. When they finished the door worked great. We are very pleased with Schmitz Door Service and would highly recommend them anytime.

t wasA++ Absolutely wonderful service! We've used them several times and have come within a day or two of calling..sometimes the very same day. Robert ( owner) has always been easy to reach and or calls back within a few hours. Justin (lead technician) is fantastic, timely, well mannered, and goes above and beyond doing the little things that you wouldn't necessarily expect and explains everything. We've used them install a new garage door, new opener and recently moved and had them out to tweak a few things on our new door. Pricing is more than fair for the quality of work...its not to often that you get this kind of quality work these days! Candice
