Professional Asphalt Sealcoating

William Shope responded to my request online, he gave me a price for the driveway and set a date for the job to be done. He called me that morning to confirm the work would be done that morning. Good price, good job. Professional

Add on Angie's List states senior discounts. Dean called with estimate (using Google or some internet site, never came to house) and said it would be his minimum of $190. I told him then that I was a senior and he said .. it would not apply since it was a minimum rated job. Why then do they state they offer a senior discount .. he quoted the price and then I told him I was a senior.
This is the most I have ever paid for a simply driveway sealcoating.
I paid for the job in cash and asked him for a receipt. He said he did not give receipts like that. and quot;We are much more professional then just handing you a piece of paperand quot;. He said I would get one in the mail.
Spots appeared on the driveway within 2 days of the seal coating. We had not used the driveway during those two days. I called Dean and he said it must have been his sweat droplets causing them. He said don't worry they will fade away. Today, October 10 the spots are not only there but there are now streaky lines stemming from the spots. As if it's running. No idea what this is but never, ever had defects showing from a sealcoat job before.
Called Jim on several occasions seeking my receipt and wanted to ask him about his add for senior discounts. After at least 5 messages (the last advising Jim that if I didn't hear from him I would leave a message for him on Angie's List) he called. I asked about the senior discount and he said it was included in the price. I told him how the estimate process was done and the I told Dean about the senior age AFTER he told me the price and again, Jim said Oh he included it in the price. HUH?
I told him I wanted my receipt. He said he would call me back shortly to get my address ( wouldn't you think he had it if his company did work for me?). He called back the following Monday .. that was sometime in September. I gave him the address ..... today is October 10 and still no receipt.
I never paid this much for a simple seal coat. I thought well maybe, the most expensive guy will do the best job. Dean appeared to do a thorough job but .. when I pointed out some cracks in the driveway that I had patched and asked him to go over them with his crack seal .. he convinced me that it was not necessary since I had patched them already. Since then the cracks opened up ... my bad for following his suggestion.
I told Dean during the estimate process that my neighbor would be having his drive done at the same time and would that qualify for a discount since he would be traveling to our area only once for two jobs .. he said it would help him but not me. He said and quot;no one is going to tell me how to run my businessand quot;. Lesson learned by me .. not all independent contractors are really interested in their customers.
He was prompt to take the job but trying to get a receipt has been agonizing ... perhaps not so professional after all.
I'll never use them again .. neither will my neighbor. My advise ... look elsewhere.

They did a great job. The price was mid-ranged with everybody else. They were quick and they came on time. They actually did the job like we want.

My driveway was in dire need of seal coating, had multiple cracks and the apron was beginning to crumble. I called Bill, he came out that evening to give me an estimate.

After assessing the situation, he suggested that it may not be in my best interest to cold patch the crumbling apron, as the first plow of winter would likely pop out the patch and take more asphalt with it. That would never have occurred to me! I am so grateful for his honesty. He could have kept mum, charged me more and done the extra work, and I would have been worse off in the end.

He gave me an estimate on the spot and verified that they would be able to do the work the following Monday.

In short, they arrived right when they promised (called me at the office). Called me when they were done.

I'm extremely pleased. In fact, I pointed them to a neighbor who I knew was in need of a similar service, and told them to mention me by name.

Quick and efficient.

I had never had blacktop sealed before so I didn't really know what to expect. I know when the bids came in it was less than I could buy materials for at the big box stores and I didn't have to do the work. We had a mini vacation scheduled and they worked it into their schedule so it was ready when we returned. When we drove into the driveway we were impressed with how the finished product turned out, no messes left behind, all the cracks filled, and a wonderful seal on the entire driveway. Recently we have had some good rains on it and it just runs off. Can't wait to see what the snow will do on it. Hopefully it will mean less scraping and chipping of ice. The most (if any) difficult item during the process was getting together to pay the bill. Mission accomplished and both parties are satisfied. A neighbor was so impressed that they decided on the spot to have their driveway sealed instead of doing it themselves.

Great Service and work! They stopped out and gave us a walk through and estimate. We were impressed with their checklist and showed they knew what they have been doing! Everything was excellent. He had done work for a neighbor and it looked so good I had mine done. I asked how often I needed this done and he told me it would need to be done every other year. He didn't try to take advantage of me by telling me it needed to be done every year.
