On
2/23/13 I went to the closest boat dealer to purchase a new rig.
Boat, motor
and
trailer. I ordered it and asked how long will it take and was told 6
to 8 weeks.
Thirteen
weeks later and no boat insight I went in and after some conflict I
was
given
my deposit back. A week later I ordered the same rig from a dealer 85
miles
away.
I was told 4 to 6 weeks and I'll have it. 10 days later they called
me to let
me
know I could pick it up. What a great surprise that call was. When I
got to the
dealer
we went out to have the seat installed and that?s when I saw they
mounted
the
remote tiller switch on the wrong side. That was the red flag to
really look this
package
over. The trailer was too short for the boat and side guides pointed
in
different
directions. Plus the boat must have been sitting in the flight path
of many birds with all of the droppings in it. I told the sales
person I'm not going to accept
this
and was told they would call and send pictures to the factory to see
if they could make the trailer work with the boat. I went home and
when they called me
5
days later they agreed to refund my money.
On
my way home I saw the sign for Boat Sport Marina of Eagle River,
WI...so I stopped and looked around. They had AlumaCraft Boats and
sell Mercury Motor
plus
ShoreLand'r Trailers . This will work for me. I went in and was
approached
by
a young man the owners son John. We sat and talked... mostly me. This
is what
I
need John...he told me what he could order and the price. I went home
and thought about it and two days later we signed off on the deal. I
was given a delivery date and went home. A few weeks went by and I
was told I could pick-up
the
rig and do the on water inspection. John went over everything as if I
knew nothing about a boat and was just great to deal with. I took the
rig home and went
over
every nut and bolt...guess what? Even the air pressure in the tires
was correct.
I've
had the rig home and have been out every day and did discover that
the spare
tire
would hit the ground on a very steep launch ramp. I called and John
listened
to
me and said. I'm going to see if I have a different spare tire
bracket and I'll call
you
back. This is the test...just when will he call back? In less then 5
minutes John
called
back...he just passed the test. John had a different bracket and I
was told I could swap it out free of charge. This is not the end of
things. I've been in the Marina looking at accessories and discovered
that the parts man who is well versed in this field has saved me from
purchasing items not needed. I also had a conversation with the
person that set-up my rig and discovered he was also very
professional
and helpful. He saved me time and damage to my rig by explaining
in
great detail the correct way to launch and load with a roller
trailer.
As
I have mention above I'm 64 and this should tell you I've made many,
many
purchases
in life. Some have been difficult as you have seen in the first part
of this
message
I have run the gauntlet in trying to purchase a new boat, motor and
trailer.
If
only I knew what a pleasant group of people Boat Sport Marina
employed I could have been in a new rig for the opener.
