It was excellent. Price was reasonable for the quality of equipment they used. I would recommend them. In fact, I already did recommend them.

After 20 years, we decided to remove our above ground swimming pool and the large cedar deck which surrounded it. We took care of the pool removal but Specialty Design removed the deck in July. About 2 months later, they built a new cedar and maintenance free deck for us. Bill was a joy to work with during the planning process. Darren (also great) is in charge of the building process. They have a professional work crew. Showed up when they said they would. Worked hard all day long and cleaned up after themselves. They even moved the wood around every few days so that our lawn would not be damaged. The new deck and walkway are beautiful and built with high quality materials.

Bill, the estimator. was very knowledgeable in this efforts to design a plan that met my needs and expectations and was able to keep within my budget.. Before I signed the contract agreement, Bill willingly made a second trip to my home to answer some additional questions and to explain a few issues that I still had concerning the project. Darren, the project manager, and his crewmen Scott and Brian were very professional and worked in coordination with each in order to allow the deck construction to proceed in an efficient manner. Darren had clear insight into how to complete the deck in the manner that I envisioned. He encouraged me to ask any questions I may have had as the construction progressed. His answers and explanations were very clear and were made in in such a manner that I was able to understand the various stages of the project. The final result was more to my satisfaction than I thought it would be when it was on paper. Darren and his crew cleaned up the area in such an immaculate manner that one would never know that building a structure that extensive had been constructed on my property. I am so proud of my new deck, and I have no doubt that it will add a great deal to the value to my home. If anyone would ask me to recommend a contractor to build a similar undertaking, I would definitely recommend Darren and his crew from Specialty Design and Construction LLC. Hiring Darren has restored my faith in the fact that there are still artisans in today's world who take a great deal of pride in the quality of their work.

Our initial meeting was great. After we shared with Bill what our vision was, he made some suggestions and helped us tweak our design so that it would have a nicer finished looked. Great to work with. Timely with responses to questions. On-site guys were great and didn't mind me popping out back to ask questions. They were even kind enough to leave me with a small section of flooring on my pool deck before they headed out on Friday so that I could sit pool side over the weekend. Project took about a week. They went over some "care instructions" with me, did their clean up and left me to admire my backyard makeover. I will definitely use them again in the future. Great experience.

Arrived at 8:00AM - right on time. Work completed by 2:00PM by a crew of three. Cost of project about half that of the other two quotes I received. They accommodated my request to change from 16" to 12" centerlines on the deck joists - at no additional cost. They also put the footings in at the locations I wanted. Darren consulted with me on the actual final dimensions of the deck to make sure we were on the same page and there were no surprises. Darren also expedited railing fabrication by the supplier so that the deck could be completed sooner than promised. Azek decking was used - a solid plastic material material - to avoid problems attributed to the wood fiber content found in composite decking materials.
