I had an engine shell out on me, and I asked for a quote to replace it with a crate engine.  That should be a routine request.  No diagnosis, or ambiguity about what is wrong.  And I was asking for a rebuilt crate engine, so there is no variability in the costs associated for their parts.  However it took a week to get an estimate and it was only an estimate.  They would not agree to a fixed fee.  This was a 99 Tahoe that needed a 5.7L engine.  They quoted $3750.  I asked if they could cap it at $4000 and they said no.  Johnson Sales agreed to a fixed fee of $4100 plus tax.  That also included towing of about 5 miles.  Don Miller agreed to a fixed fee also, but I can't remember how much it was.  Don Miller is further away, and would have been more including towning.  Parks might have gotten it done for the same, but I can't afford to give anybody an open checkbook.

The one thing I like about them is that they get the car serviced in and out immediately. If car brakes down or something happens, they fix it out immediately. They even did brakes and spark plugs too several times. They didn’t charge me before it was done but told me what has to be done. They always kept me informed what has to be done in future and didn’t try to push me to purchase things. Their prices are quite high because they are the monopoly in this area and we don’t have any auto service nearby and so they jag the prices up. I would use them in future. I know them for ten years. Even if I had an emergency, they do it immediately and that’s the good thing about them. So the price really doesn’t matter that time when we want our car back immediately.
