We had an excellent experience with Dave, from beginning to end. I was able to get an appointment scheduled very promptly. The email exchange to finalize the details of scheduling and contracting services was also very prompt, and we were given good information ahead of time on what to expect with a home inspection. As for the actual inspection, we couldn't be happier. Dave was extremely thorough, and he was very patient in answering all of our questions. It was evident to us that he really cares about his work and the people he is helping. And we received the report, with photos, within 24 hours of the inspection! If you are interested in learning about the inner workings of a prospective home and how to best care for it to keep it in good condition for years to come, I highly recommend working with Dave.

Dave did both the inspection on my current home for me, and one on the home that I sold. I have found him to be knowledgeable, personable, and thorough. He explains the difference between minor things that routinely occur when you buy an existing home, and large things that are either safety hazards, will affect the integrity of the house, or will be expensive to fix. I have 100% faith and trust in what Dave says, and will absolutely use him the next time I move.

We have used Haack two times now. We appreciate the timely report with photos documenting observable defects and issues. Equally important is that the limitations of what can be looked at are clearly explained.

Dave was prompt, professional, curteous and thurough.  We felt he addressed all of our concerns about the property.  He didn't seem bothered by the fact that we asked a lot of questions, and was patient in explaining everything to us.  As first time home buyers, we felt he taught us a lot and helped us understand how we would need to care for our new home.

Dave did a fantastic job on our home inspection. We're first-time home buyers and a bit anxious about all the new aspects of this process. Dave was incredibly thorough and careful in his inspection, leaving no detail uninvestigated. He also patiently walked us through all the problems with the house, and pointed out potential issues that we may want to address down the road. Dave saved us some money on some repairs that would have needed doing down the road, but more importantly gave us peace of mind about our purchase.

He did a great job.  Very helpful and answered a lot of questions and provided some suggestions.

My husband and I hired Dave Haack to inspect our condo before purchase. This was the second time we hired him; he inspected our previous house as well. Dave was very thorough in inspecting the condo. Fortunately for us, he didn't find anything major wrong with the place! He first went through on his own and then walked us through to point out the few things he found. He followed up the next day with an emailed copy of our inspection report, which included photos of the areas needing attention. We've hired him twice and we would hire him again!

Dave was professional, friendly and honest. During the home inspection four aunts and my father showed up. My dad is a former home inspector who is no longer licensed- I asked if he could "follow" Dave to help keep track of any repairs I might be willing to do after purchasing the home or wish to negotiate with the owner. Dave was fine with this and did not seem to be bothered that so many family members showed up for the inspection. He completed a thorough inspection of the house and helped provide good recommendations about non-defects that were more preventative maintenance or a good "heads up" about areas where maintenance may be coming due soon. Two "defects" - an older recalled electrical box which remained after the owner upgraded to a new box, and the radon test results provided through the inspection report were paid for by the seller and addressed prior to sale thanks to Dave's inspection and report. After purchase about a week into ownership, I found a small leak in the basement during very heavy rain. Since Dave had informed us that the chimney was coming due for rebuilding or significant repair during the inspection, I was aware this could be the problem. My agent asked Dave if he could stop by and help determine if it was an existing problem not disclosed by the former owner or the known issue with the chimney we had planned to address after closing. Dave agreed to stop by, climbed on the roof, in the attic, and checked the basement for no charge. He determined that it appeared that the chimney had continued to flake and the recent high winds and storms had exacerbated the problem, but that it appeared no significant water damage had entered the house as the water had traveled through the chimney shaft. He did not charge for this follow up visit. I was very pleased with Dave's work, his customer service, and would recommend him to anyone for home inspection.

My husband and I are planning to buy a home and wanted to get it inspected before the purchase is completed. We had an accepted offer on Monday and Dave at Haack Homestead Inspections was able to get there and do the inspection on Thursday! We met Dave at the property as he was finishing up the inspection and he walked us through the house and explained everything he found. Even if certain things weren't a negative issue in the report, he shared information with us about why things were installed in certain ways and how to maintain them over time. He answered every question we threw at him and seemed very happy to be helping us. He never made us feel rushed to get out of there when his job was done. When it was over, he gave us a handy home maintenance manual and told us that if we ever had any questions about the house in the future, we were free to call or email. I'll be telling my friends about it, for sure.
